Lol this reminds me that I could bitch for hours on end about people who toss the term "SJW" around, along with "PC".
Apparently things like me being uncomfortable with a coworker saying he'd gladly beat "lying" trans people to death makes me SJW and PC. Grumpy basement dwelling MRA's think he deserves to speak his mind with zero consequence and that I should just take it and deal with the fear of being killed.
One thing people who toss this word around don't realize is that they cast too wide a net when they use it, causing it to lose its meaning.
One second, they use it for radical feminists.
Then they use it for any other more regular feminist.
The next they turn around and use it for transgender activists (or just trans people in general).
In the eyes of uneducated people who like to sound smart. this might make sense.
However to anyone who actually understands the difference between one kind of feminist and the other, and then the jump to trans people, it crumbles under itself.
You see:
1. Most feminists =/= Radical feminists. Grouping the two together is offensive to feminists, since radical feminists are really just sexists against men.
2. While feminists and trans activists often get along, RADICAL FEMINISTS AND TRANS PEOPLE REEAAAAALLY DON'T. Those bitches hate us. Radfems exclude trans people, calling us mentally ill, saying trans women don't understand a "REAL woman's pain" and that trans men "HAVE GIVEN IN TO PATRIARCHY" by "PRETENDING TO BE MEN" to supposedly avoid the oppression women face.
For some reason trans men's sexualities are then also pulled into the debate. If you're into women, you're just a "butch lesbian who doesn't dare to be a proud butch lesbian".
If you're into men and have any interest in anime, they'll say you're just a horny girl who got a little too interested in dat yaoi.
But these people don't really care about what's ethical or correct, they don't care about our human rights or respecting us, they only care about what's convenient.
Lets look at what trans and intergender people lose through not being recognized as a legitimate minority with legitimate rights: Discrimination, mistreatment by doctors and psychiatrists, inability to recieve treatment, raised suicide rates, high risk of being killed.
Lets look at what cis people have to lose from recognizing us as a legitimate minority with legitimate rights: Having to adjust the pronouns they use and some of the terminology they use when referring to us.
Some people prioritize the latter as more important to defend. This is the choice they make on a daily basis when referring to us. And as long as they devalue us by playing us off as just "SJW"s, call us mentally ill, or say we don't even exist, the violence and discrimination against us will remain strong.
Simple human respect is not difficult to do, and it goes a long way. It's not expensive either. I've recieved more of it from the poorest of men than the guys up top.
