publishing is a long and arduous process, arguably even more so than webcomics.

Not relay. Not if you're self publishing, anyway. I've self published a couple comics through CreateSpace, and it was a pretty easy process. From what I understand publishing a text only book would be even easier. They have it set up so you can literally just upload a word document if you want. I'd recommend giving it a try, if you really want to get your stories out into the world.

here is a reason a professional writer can do several books a month and an artist can barely finish one.

Erm..I hate to go off topic, but most novelists write several books a YEAR as opposed to a month. And this varies a lot from author to author.

Brandon Sanderson, who is known as a prolific fantasy/sci-fi author, released four novels and two novellas last year.

Patrick Rothfuss, a critically acclaimed fantasy author, has written two books in ten years.

I do agree with you that the division of labor is harsher for the artists, at least when it comes to comics. (From what I've seen through my own limited experiences, anyways.)

Kind of brings new meaning to the phrase, "a picture's worth a thousand words."

I'm talking like comic floppies not full books. Clearly an artist can't draw one book a month, unless it's the floppy. I should have clarified that better.

Is this the same guy who harassed artists by flooding them with emails asking for free work, then freaked out on them when they didn't respond right away? Kind of sounds like it...

I don't even know how to begin deconstructing everything wrong with "I don't want to do the work to achieve my dreams and that's not my problem".

If only you could draw it... " No Hi, no Fuck you, completely nothing. Did you really expect people to work with you with such an attitude? You didn't even ask if I'm interested in colaboration before posting your script, it was like "here's the script would be cool if you devoted your time to draw it for free" Absolutely no information if it's a short project, if it will drag for years, nothing. I'm really curious if my respond "Sorry but I don't have time to draw another project. I'm pretty busy with the one I have. Wish you luck in finding an artist though." was a complete lack of apathy and being rude to you.

People throw suggestions here and there to help you out, but perfect solution for you would be if someone would volunteer to become your artist. If you gonna debunk every suggestion people have for you, why did you make this topic in the first place?

You can't blame people being not interested in your work. Saying that you can't draw it yourself is pure bullshit too. There's plenty of free software you can use and don't even tell me you can't afford a simple pencil and a fineliner once a month.

Making this particular topic you just made sure no one on this website will want to work with you.

LOL!!! Holy moly I didn't know this is what he meant by "approaching" artists--thanks for sharing your experience on it, further goes to show the infantile absurdity of all this.

I think this entire thread is a lesson in respect and entitlement, which seems to be a recurring problem in these forums/the online art community in general. If you want to make comics, pay an artist or become one yourself. That simple.

Nice! Anyway, I'm going to try and pitch in my few cents without being too salty.
(Somehow I highly doubt you've left this place seeing as you lied to me about deleting your account after apologizing.)

There are so many reasons as to why people don't want to work with you.

First off, you spammed people (some who are also my friends) which isn't a good first impression. Most of your pitches were obviously copy and paste, you sent me spiteful messages on my business email because I was taking too long to reply, not to mention you also have a high sense of entitlement and tempter that you desperately need to ditch.

When you behave in such a despicable manner artists are going to talk about it because we are a community. Did you ever stop to think that maybe some of these people have been acting uninterested is because they know what you have been doing? I told you in my reply that you shouldn't go off blaming other people with your failed attempts and that is exactly what you did here. It's disappointing to see that none of my words really got through to you.

This is pretty tamed, I know where you are going for but people will start to use harsher arguments when the topic creator is being rude to their politness. Sometimes you need to let the steam out, sometimes only the harsh reality can get thru.

Making comics is not easy especially when you're a writer that's looking for an artist.

If you want success, work hard, so hard that you go insane and lose sleep. Many of the most successful creators on this website are one-men armies: they started from nothing, and now they're at the top, and that's because they worked their goddamn balls/ovaries off. Comic making comes with stress, self inflicted stress mind you, considering that this type of work is free lance.

If you want to get good, you need to go through hell and come out singing.

From what I've read, you don't seem cut out for comic creation, but if you really, really want to do it, keep going.
