"Calm down. That's just what people are calling it. I believe scientists discovered global warming before you... slept. Basically, the world's too hot to handle, and we need you to keep humans around for when that happens."

[Jonk]

"What exactly does that entail?"
(Whatever it technically is it's fun, and the stories interesting)

[Short_Insomiac]

She rubbed her temples as if she was trying to explain multiplication to a three year old. "In five years, the mistakes of your generation will Mazel Tov the Earth. To have the human race survive, we must adapt. You are the first attempt at that adaptation."

[Jonk]

"So I do have super powers?"

[Short_Insomiac]

"I wouldn't call it that, but yes, possibly."

[Jonk]

"So what exactly do you want me to do." I suddenly scold myself for following along, why the fuck do I believe her.

(Can I get a read on how trust worthy this lady is?)

[Short_Insomiac]

She's got a kind smile, eyes that have seen hell, and hands that raised hell. She was clearly wise, smart, and studious, all things that would typically get you to trust such a woman, but something was... off. "Let us test you, thats all. And not to break anyone's bones along the way."

[Jonk]

I decide that the only way to get out of whatever this place is too go along with her. I nod begrudgingly, it's a tiny movement but it carries much weight with it.

(End scene I guess?)

[Short_Insomiac]

(Sure?)

"Welcome to the team." She stands and smiled. "We'll get someone to undo those in just a minute. Stay put." She said, referring to the restraints

(Where is the next scene set?)

[Short_Insomiac]

You were now in an abandoned airfield, bout 10 people around you in hazmat suits. You, yourself were in a bulky, fireproof suit. You were told you were being tested for "durability," but the flamethrowers told you something else.

[Jonk]

I ready myself for whatever is to come. Glancing around to see if I recognize any of the people.

(One, do I have a flamethrower. Two, I'm picturing this as the airbase from Captain Marvel and I love it)

[Short_Insomiac]

(bruh me too)

Due to the darkened suits, everyone's faces are undistinguishable. Through your headset, you hear the scientist lady's voice. "Ready?" The flamethrower people walk closer to you

[Jonk]

A voice inside of me screams "not ready! not ready!" but I hold my ground, preparing my self for whatever to come. I spread my feet and hold up my fists in a way that I realize won't protect me from flames.

(Carol Danvers is a fucking icon)

[Short_Insomiac]

You can practically feel one of the people roll their eyes at you, but it's fine. Now, you're surrounded by flames, watching the fire dance around you makes you want to scream and run, to get it off. It sets off your panic alarm... but, you don't feel a thing. Even when the fire touches your bare skin, you just felt the warmth of the sun and a slight breeze

I slowly straighten my posture, as I realize that the flames don't hurt begin to feel empowered by them. For the first time since I woke up I feel a part of my that was missing alight, I don't know if it's joy or a sense of belonging but I feel whole. I'm tempted to jump to see if I can leap further than normal but I just stay in one place, basking in the glory that the warmth brings.

[Short_Insomiac]

After a minute, the fire stops. The lab coat lady walked up to you with a metallic rod, trying to take your temperature, but the second she touched your skin with it, it melted.

[Jonk]

I try very hard not to gawk at what I had done, but I take note to buy some lighter fluid to see if I could become a flame thrower. I rest my hand against my forehead as if trying to feel a difference in my temperature but it just feels normal. I grin and ask what the next test is.

[Short_Insomiac]

Lab coat lady returned your grin. "We will continue this afternoon. Until then, you should... cool off and get dressed." Using her pen, she gestured to the ashes of your burnt clothes.

I return to my room, dressing in a new outfit and preparing for the next test. I eventually decide I should go out and try to meet people at this base I'm working at, try to get a feel of whats going on here.
