That's cool. I have started mine slowly as well. I also do twice a month. If you like anime at all, I would suggest watching Gintama. It started out as a gag style series that began to add story elements as time went on. It has some super emotional moments as well as insane comedy.

I also wonder if this could be helped by not trying to do so much at once. There's a trilogy that I'm writing that I have a strong feeling I need to get done. I started Tom and Shelldon because I wanted to get something published, and figured Tom and Shelldon wouldn't take as much time as making a manga...and then reality hit me when I tried to get those first six pages done by January 1st. It takes A LOT of time, so I'm hoping that in between posting, I can also work on my book.
It doesn't help that I'm trying to also make a Tom and Shelldon card game for when it gets bigger (hopefully) and work on getting merchandise and prints made for other stories for an Artist Alley later this year.

Yah. Definitely. I think I'm so good at procrastinating, that out of fear, I've chased so many rabbits that I'm never going to get anything done. Which is way counter productive.

I did the same thing for a while. I just forced myself to buckle down. First thing I gave up was video games.

My brother is ALWAYS trying to get me to play Destiny and Fortnite! I mean, I don't play it a lot, but when I've got so much to do, even a little bit takes away a chunk of time I needed. Facebook is another killer. I think I've got to look at what's important and what's not. Take a good long look at my projects and figure out which ones I need to focus on full time. I'm hoping I can do my novel and Tom and Shelldon with some careful planning, but I get worried that if I have two things going, then I can't give my best to either because I don't have all my attention focused on one.

You've probably heard this before but:
Pick small goals first. Complete them and then make some new goals but just a bit bigger.
It definitely takes more time, but the feeling of completing a goal is very satisfying.

As someone who has a sort of hybrid comic myself (Action/Adventure, and gag-a-day) I would say maybe put the Peanuts-type segments at the end of the story section if you don't want your audience to guess whether or not they'll get story progression or a comic strip. Or perhaps have the comic strips complement the world or universe your characters inhabit by including details you wouldn't otherwise get from the main story. Sorry if this isn't all that insightful. New to this type of comic myself.
