@wispysing Yhep :smiley: on the December Magma board. Yep draw to your heart's content i can always readjust his arm, and shrink him to suit yours XD excited to see what uou come up with :art:

@Kelheor love the dynamic sketches and the shirt drape lines look awesome :smiley: always exciting seeing other artists' process to drawing. I'm sort of similar, with head and torso n then the limbs. And true @migxmeg your studies has us facinated, keep it up :thumbsup:

@MerrowBros I feel so unworthy :cry:. Would love a dress in that color though :3.

@Kelheor thank you for the breakdown! :astonished: pretty easy? It looks fantastic at every stage, will 100% be trying that on the next figure I need to draw. Studies... I have a time lapse of every sketch I make, rip storage (I'll throw it on discord since no mp4s here) - sadly I've trained myself on the kind of bad habit of just looking at the ref photo that's on my monitor and starting from one spot and using the magic of lasso tool adjustments DX.

Frowback Friday!

This drawing dates back to 2015, when I was still in the process of designing the characters for my comic. My readers might be surprised to see that Maeve's design was finalized way before Jim and Melody (in fact, Maeve and Darrel's designs date all the way back to 2011). This was also before I knew that Mandy Patinkin has a beard now : P

And a new drawing for today, as well, also (to not be lazy):

@migxmeg beautiful bones as always. I like the color of the background - it makes all of your shades and highlights look really gentle.

@IndigoShirtProd Those are some really nice bodies under those outfits. O.O

@nathanKmcwilliams Ooh I just love the spacing of black inks, textures and white paper on Rip. It really pops in this sketch here. I don't know if this means anything, I don't think it does. I think I'm trying to say that I like the way it looks, but words are hard at the moment.

Did a proper turnaround for Leonie since someone sat down and wrote down the first three chapters of her story...

And super rough sketches of 3 of the supporting characters...

@MerrowBros
That's really neat behind the scenes info on TPS. Really interesting that you had Darrell's design locked down all the way in 2011. Was his personality the same?

@Mallory
Aw thanks. If you look close, you can tell I smeared the ink. I didn't wait long enough for it to dry lol

Yeah. Darrel is basically the only character whose personality and design remained intact from the original version of the comic (which had two or three different titles, I could never decide on one back then).

*I guess there is one slight difference; in Darrel's original 2011 design, he didn't have a mouth for some reason.

Morning all!

I was just wondering - who here uses an iPad to draw with and what spec does it have? :sweat_smile:

I only draw on my ipad since a few years now, its quite old by now but still works good. Hope these specs is helping anything.

I really want a new one so I can use newer functions in procreate but friends who bought a new one have had some problems with it (specifically drawing in procreate) so scared to get one until those issues are fixed

I would probably recommend a pro if its drawing you want to do mostly, its got a stronger processor and stuff but im honestly no pro, ive never used an ipad air really :sweat_smile:

@Legendofgenii
I got an iPad pro several months ago (4th generation) and I love it. I had been making my comic on my laptop (I still do some photoshop work there/final layouts) but I love, love, love drawing on this with csp as my base pencils, inks, flats (I’m sure I could do more in csp, but I grew up on photoshop). So smooth. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I feel FAR more connected on the iPad than I did my laptop/stylus.

@rumpenstiltzkin loving how much character is in your line work for that angry elf.

@IndigoShirtProd those are fun monk designs! I need to get more zen with designing costumes (it’s the most painful part of the character design process).

@MerrowBros I am so happy to see Mandy Patikin was part of the comic from the beginning. Beard or no, I sensed his presence immediately.

@nathanKmcwilliams Dude, your inks are so expressive and kinetic! Would love to see more of that team up!

@Kelheor the movement and appeal that you inject intoyour characters is so stink’n infectious and inspiring! I love it.

@aqua03 that page is looking SO good! Great line work! I love how it all came together.

@LCT_m_a_d love those dynamic angles! I feel so worried for your guy already! They seem a bit stressed.

@migxmeg for assignment #5, please tell me you’re adding in the big eyes! They. Are. Something.

Thanks! I'm glad my practice at getting better at lineart seems to be paying off then it seems. :slight_smile:
