Every site is potentially dangerous- including top hits from Google's searches that are PAID to be top search results. (Seen that with gardening sites a few times). And honestly the "cloud" is making stuff worse and harder since everything requires built in -ware to run that you don't realize, until you use an app like "noscript" that stops ALL urls and can cripple websites (rest in peace facebook LOLOLOLOLOL i feel no guilt for all your ads slowing down my internet), and same with "chromium" -ware (discord, IE, Chrome, and Brave all use the base coding to run and such run a lot of CPU usage. Brave is decent, and discord used to be, but has gotten worse in the last 8 months).
I actually don't use antivirus stuff since my firewall gets it (or I know how to clean it). But 90% of the time, if you're hanging out on just google (not opening sites), you can get most of what you need there and from going to sites you know are fine. The best thing honestly is run adblock (adblock+ is better sometimes), and if you're like me and OCD at controlling wtf touches your baby, you run noscript on firefox/palemoon (palemoon's better alternative). But again, I'm an OCD control freak with my computer where I want to know why I got a BSOD, why my comp overheated and auto-restarted, and what not. It's no exaggeration about that hobbling by for 6 years, almost 8 before I got my next desktop (which came with a faulty heat sink cooler thingie so it will randomly overheat signal [not a windows problem, an actual hardware issue] and will restart itself randomly).
......I don't have happy computer memories apparently. (This is also why I can't use Apples. Aside from them frying to the point of needing a complete reinstall of the OS, that I couldn't even touch one in college [the tech dept actually disabled my login from working on Apples and would give me a custom message that told me to kindly move to a Linux or Windows computer lol], they're built as an all-inclusive OS which makes it harder for shit to go wrong from the internet, but once something does hit it, it's really hard to fix by Google-Fu prowess.
turns around and stabs all the HDDs she's ever owned WHY CAN'T YOU BE GOOD?!!?! WHY DO MANUFACTURERS AND DEVS MAKE LOOP HOLES THAT WE HAVE TO EXPLOITSDJLKSDHFDS
[Fun fact: did you know you can link one computer to another with a USB cable and send data across that cable by using IP id's assigned to each individual computer from the cmd log?! It's so cool! Old-school tech like that is neat.]
