Looking at my latest drawing I feel like Iâm not far off.
I think the important thing is instead of thinking like an artist, I need to think like a technologist who is trying to make art and be a little more analytical about it. So I'm just gonna repurpose the Pareto effect for my retro.
The Trivial Things (20% of Value)
40% Creative Foundation - Visualization and Conceptual
Score 30%
Note: Very Happy with trying this idea. I felt like I used more of my potential as an artist and I think people have been waiting for me to push myself more. I need to pick more interest subjects and scenarios. Though this wasn't the problem with the drawing.
40% Art Fundamentals - Principals and Elements of design
Score 15%
Note: I didn't really didn't develop any strong principals until towards the end. An ounce of prevention was needed. Next piece I'll be far more cognitive of how I used contrast, direction and focus in the past. (Pug, Phoenix, Nubian Goat studies)
The Important things (80% of value)
10% Adaptations
Score 4%
Note: I made some adjustments, but had I tried to make compositional ones earlier it would have opened up the canvas a bit more making it easier to draw correctly. The fact that I couldn't get any exciting photo shows the drawing was lacking in execution.
10% Originality/Organic Specialty
Score 8%
Note: I think it looks like the shading style/detail I normally do and it's pretty faithful to the relaxing vibe I try to demonstrate. Also it seemed to offer more value and generate more interest than my animal studies.
