Okayyy, some of you may have caught my post lamenting kind of not being a part of the comics community anymore because I changed the format of my story to a series of visual novels, mostly because I lost all the built-in communities and readerbases on webcomic sites, and also it's tough to make it mobile-friendly without having to deal with app stores and fees and such. So far the best solution I've found is to post playthroughs of the chapters on Youtube.
HOWEVER. I was thinking...what if I set up an alternate version as either a comic with just...text passages between "panels", or just as a novel with art? I've done the latter before and it is kind of a hassle to post art within novels, unless they changed something since the last time I did it, and there would be a lot of art.
It wouldn't be that much extra work on my part, and honestly it was something I was considering long before I even settled on what the new format was going to be anyway. It'd be a bit more accessible to people who maybe want to read on the go and can't watch videos or download game files. It would mean losing things like the music and sound effects and animations, but frankly I don't care how people consume the story, I just want to get as many eyes on it as possible.
So tell me, Tapas...how dumb is this idea? Should I just try it and see what happens? Would any of you read such a thing?
If anyone was wondering what it looks like currently, here's a video of the first chapter:
