Nah, it's not just you! I like a large range of stories, including ones that are highly indulgent and full of tropes. There's certain ones I can't stomach, but there's tons that are guilty pleasures for me.
I would totally read a full smut short stories.Ok, so I am more into yuri nowadays lol and I always liked the works from Amano Shuninta specially.. going back to the topic I would totally read short stories like salesman x client business after party . First non rapey drunken sex and second managing the feelings, sounds totally realistic to me... XD.
As a BL writer...and a BL experiencer I tend to go on a more realistic view of what a relationship or romance looks like. I like emphazising on the small or miniature details that tend to go unnoticed that provide a view of how one cares for the other (pupils dialating, trying for compliments - the little things). Fluff if you will. It is just as important to let the characters be on scenes without each other so that you are able to fully flesh them out as real believable people...give them traits their romantic partner may not see by letting them deal with some things alone.Ofc a chapter or two of smut is completely alright as long as it helps the plot...
