I'm just having one of those nights. Anyone else here have that moment where a specific pose your trying to draw in your comic just won't work out. You've looked at references and everything but still can't get it right. And this continues to the point where you just say "screw it, I'll think of something else!" Basically just coming up with an easier pose that works out for the panel even though it wasn't what you originally had in mind. Realizing sometimes we have to accept our limits and we can't really know how to draw everything. This is just how I feel at least.

For me it's the exact opposite. When I want to draw a pose that I have trouble with, I draw it anyways.

The first few attempts may look bad but atleast I'll be able to learn from it and someday I'll be able to draw that pose with no sweat whatsoever.

I actually do try to do that sometimes too. Its just until it drives me absolutely nuts and i get a headache.

Whenever I get this problem I put the panel off to the side for the time being and work on a different panel. We all have good days and bad days, try to tackle the difficult poses on your better days.

If that doesn't work, I'll try drawing it traditionally. Things feel different traditionally.

It happens to me sometimes. When I tried to draw something recently, it just didn't work out and I can't really find a good reference, so ] opted to draw it with another pose.

Not really. I like to challenge myself with different poses no matter how tough they are. It helps me build up memory so that if I have to use the same poses again, I know what to do.

Most of the poses I had difficulty with involves hands and as much as I'd like to avoid them to draw faster, I'd always tell myself, "Ah, screw this! I'll try to get this right no matter how many trashy hands I make!" I think the most number of trashy hands I made before I got it right was around less than 30 or 40. I dunno. Too many to count.

Nah, that's understandable, especially if you're still learning and trying to finish your drawing before deadline.

Have you considered using those little mannequins? I don't have any, but I've been considering getting some so I can arrange them and take a photo instead of hunting down what I want on Google Image Search when I want a pose reference picture for commissions. There are the traditional wood ones, but now there are some plastic ones available that look pretty awesome.

This happens all the time. Sometimes, if I feel lazy or if I'm not particularly enthusiastic with that specific scene, I just think "Fu*** it. Goes that way! People will slide this in micro seconds anyway". But, if I'm having real fun with the scene I'm drawing, I insist till I'm satisfied.

Oh yeah I know what your talking about! I might try getting one of those. Maybe 2 since the pose i was having trouble with involved 2 characters.

Actually what you said made me realize something. I'm the same way with the enthusiasm thing! The last panel of my prologue was EXTREMELY difficult to do! But I reeeeaally wanted to use that pose so I kept going. The poses that I change are usually the ones I'm not as crazy about. Can't believe I forgot about that. :astonished::joy:

Posing is incredibly difficult which is why like others have mentioned I'll try to sketch out more roughs to try and nail em down but when even that doesn't work I use Magic Poser (and keep in mind I'm not advertising or some paid promoter just someone who really loves this tool) which you can find the web app here: https://webapp.magicposer.com/ and they've got a mobile app that can be used on android or apple

There's honestly no shame if you make the choice to swap poses for a simpler one if your struggling but just the same your allowed to put tools and resources to your use. I'm very visual so if I've got something in mind using little mannequins or taking extra moments to block out a pose helps me a lot! Keep at it though we can all improve and become pose masters! :+1:

As someone who firmly believes that she can draw anything she puts her mind to...oddly enough, I have to agree with this. I mean, even if you technically CAN, even if you have the skills, sometimes it just doesn't work. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

There are always days where my muse just isn't with me...and on those days it's better to give up and/or try again later than to force it.

I'm really stubborn, but if it's not expressing what I want it to express, it's out.

Big advice is, if it's resisting that night in particular, leave it there and go to sleep. Sometimes that sudden lack of skills is tiredness.
