It gives very unique statements about various tropes and cliches you see in battle series.
almost every character embodies their own unique struggle in life.
It is similar to most webcomics.

Hmm. I have two novels, so I'll do both!

Mayme, who is vampiric, never drinks human blood.
Percival, the one who hunts vampiric creatures, ends up drinking blood.
At least one vampiric being dies in the story.

Esmerlin, who is a species of merfolk that can make deals to steal human's souls, makes such a deal with the captain of the pirates we follow.
We only meet one merman in the story, due to the fact mermaids are more common then their male counterparts.
Merfolks can take "human forms", but it's usually used for mating purposes.
