Glad to see a new reviewer out there ! These are really nice and seem to be a lot of work so kudos to you ! One suggestion : I like the fact that you represented yourself talking but the big white screen with your avatar on the right can be a bit redundant. Maybe you could show more of the comic's actual pages and images and make your avatar pop above it from time to time (or he can stay in a corner all the time, I don't know)

I think I want to take this more towards what Nostalgia Critic and JonTron do where they kind of edit the footage (or in my case, screencaps) and act out (animate) scenes (only Nostalgia Critic does that if the movie is still in theaters, but the idea should hold here ^^)

Dude, you're rad. I dont know if you've read any of my rambling in the Super-Science-Thread but I think you're going to be a huge help to the community. I had talked to a friend of mine about doing comic reviews before and he wasnt sure that it would be able to work in video-format because comics are a static thing, but you made it work. I'm excited to see how your format develops over time, and maybe someday I'll r̶i̶p̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶o̶f̶f̶ use your work for inspiration with my own reviews..

I see a lot of written comic reviews and while they're good, I can understand why they wouldn't appeal to some people (reading on a screen can be really tiring). Nowadays, people tend to prefer podcasts or videos and I think a review video is perfect to talk about a webcomic. I mean, people can listen to you commenting a page while showing it !
I know @konniemay makes some pretty nice video promotions herself and I too have my own review channel with my friend Blop (here's an example of what we do)

But we're all very different in the way we try to be entertaining while still being constructive so it's a lot of fun watching different video reviewers and I hope we'll be seeing more and more in the future !

If you're still motivated (cause video reviews are a lot of work) then please jump in and spread the love !

I think i'm pretty motivated, one of the things that's preventing me from starting is I dont think I have enough credibility as a creator for my opinion to hold any weight, maybe once I get some more minicomics posted or once I start posting my non-minicomic I would be a bit more comfortorable with being a critic, I think if I started right now I would just be seen as a snob who doesnt really know what he's talking about, but maybe not, most of the time excuses to not do something aren't really worth paying attention to and you should just do it.

My motto in life is : you don't have to be a baker to judge the quality of the bread. (And I'm french, bread is religion here)

Comics are made for readers, normal folks not artsy people here to determine what brush you used and how long it took you to draw a page.
And if you think about it, all those youtubers who make films or video games reviews aren't directors or programmers... They just comment on a media they love and use everyday.
But I know what you're saying, in the presentation of our channel, we mentioned that we were far from being professionals and that it was just our opinions, blablabla.

Also, we take care to review comics we really love so that we have more positive things to say than negative (it helps on the snob thingy).
For this reason, I would also advice not doing requested reviews, a lot of these feel a bit dishonest because most of the time, the reviewer is trying really hard to find something nice to say about a comic they're not really interested in and it shows (which makes the review less interesting and the reader/viewer less interested...)

Is it alright to suggest a comic we've made ourselves? Cause my comic Sleep Tight is
finished. However, it's an anthology of horror short stories, not a single long story so I'm not sure if that something you'd be interested in looking at.

I think you're totally right about not having to be a baker and whatnot, That's the same sort of approach I take when having my work critiqued. That said, I know that the way I criticize things tends to be very technical, and if I cant figure out why I think something is wrong, and more importantly if I cant offer a suggestion on how to improve it, then I probably wont mention it. But in order to offer that sort of critique and be taken seriously about it you need to have something to back up what you're saying. Right now, i'm not a baker, so I shouldnt tell the baker that they should use more flour or that they should have left the bread in the oven longer, because that advice I'm giving isnt nescesserily based on experience.

I mean, in this case I am sorta a baker, I make comics and I illustrate things, but right now, on the internet theres not a lot out there to back that up.

EhHhHh - im probably overthinking a lot of this honestly.

I think these are more fantasy than sci-fi. But to answer your question pretty much any kind will work.
I'm not sure if I'd ever fall into a sort of niche area with these where I'd cover only/mostly a particular genre (like horror or sci-fi) but it's always a possibility ^^
(I do plan on making one for Homestuck and I think that one qualifies as sci-fi, so there's that as well)

Yeah, that was my first assumption as well, which is why I tried to add as much motion to it as possible to sort of counteract that.

Also, most of my format was just me ripping off Footofaferret and theOdd1sout. So I'll try to work towards something a little more original in the future I think ^^

These were funny, I love funny review videos! I liked the first one better since there was fewer pausing on your part. But I wish you had talked more about the story and characters and what you liked and didn't like about them rather than just mentioning their names. I don't feel like the conclusion you make at the end reflects what you show in the video (esp the first one since your discussion of the comic highlights how disjointed or repetitive it is, but your conclusion is you really like it and it seemed like you were going to say you didn't like it.)

I can see the Odd1sout influence, I wouldnt say you're ripping them off though, their videos are effectively just an extension of their gag-a-day comic, your videos are reviews. I thinking taking your influence from them is a lot more interesting than if you had taken influence from RedLetterMedia for example. like I said though, i'm excited to see how your style evolves over time.

Well, I wanted to keep it under 5 minutes with that one so I had 0 time to pause given how much there was to cover (I actually left out a major plot element on purpose as a result)

Well, with that one I had been a long time reader of it and got pretty engrossed in the story. I hadn't really ever taken a step back to look at it objectively and did find some things I didn't think quite worked, but nothing that took away from the experience of reading the series as a whole. I mean I could have easily ranted about the cool parts for twice as long and I decided that could get boring fast. I figured I'd just mention it at then end.

This is something I want to work on the most. I had a much longer version of the script for both that went into that stuff but the recording of that version was a little less than 20 minutes and editing that would have been more than I figured I was capable of at the time. I had just gotten Premiere Pro and figured starting small was my best option.
I'll try to do that more in the next one (there's quite a few characters in the suggestion I already chose so I want to actually shed some light on that part. Thanks for yours by the way, I'll read through when I can ^^)

I really want to go back to that series sometime when it's done and give it another try becuase, hopefully, by that point I'll have gotten all this down and worked on a more set format.

I've really been looking for this kind of reviewer in the webcomic community! I definitely see where your influences are coming from re: Nostalgia Critic and I think you're hitting a good balance of criticism and comedy. The one thing I'm noticing though is as you said in your second video, you speak rather quickly and sometimes it's difficult to follow--I think maybe it's just a matter of finding your groove a bit more and developing confidence.
