Webtoons vs Tapastic promoting new series

Oh wow thank you everyone for your feed back. I actually understand all of what you guys are saying and I would like to thank you for your help.

I do not want to be published as a "Pro" on Webtoons. Mainly since I am working on creating my own Graphic novel company. The rating system on Webtoons I have heard and seen many times is really competitive and can become vile. I do't really pay any attention to the rating system. As for views and followers. I agree with you that Webtoons seems to have a larger fan base and I just released my next update and found that on both Tapastic and Webtoons they stay on top and go down as other series update. On Webtoons I have been able to stay in the first page of views for a few days. On Tapastic thought I was swept way down in a matter of hours.

I like that webtoons allows me to gain followers quickly and I also downloaded the Line app to see if I was able to stay in contact with the followers. The thing i dislike about Webtoons atm is. I feel that I cannot connect with the followers that I do get. There is no forum on the site and you cannot see who actually liked your series. I would like to be able to get more involved with the audience. That is what I like about Tapastic. They show you who liked your series and they let you go to them and thank them personally as well as see what they are up to or what they are making.

The forums here are also great. it allows me to ask questions and get responses from other dedicated artists who have experienced the same issues.

As of right now I did not advertise Webtoons much but I advertised Tapastic quite a bit. Since it cost me more to advertise for Tapastic and I was getting about 14x the views and followers on Webtoons I switched over to only advertising Webtoons.

To finish this long update I would say that Webtoons is good for getting immediate results and is good to promote right away but in the long run I feel I will be more successful with Tapstic and feel more connected with the audience.

I haven't thought of Webtoon as a place to host but I think I'm gonna give it a go for Fate, as I want to promote it as best I can and maybe get a few more peeps on my patreon.
As long as I go with Free hosting I am allowed to post Fate in other places? Right...?

I believe it has to do with the way comics are organized. The initial organization on webtoom is by date added, and it gives each comic more of an equal shine in the light as opposed to tapastic which on the website greets you with the popular page instead of the fresh page.

Probably also has something to do with Tapastic being worse on Mobile and webtoons community being over 100x the size.

I love tapastic and everything they stand for, but webtoons knows exactly what they are doing and what they want to do. I don't feel like Tapastic is there yet.

The lack of community at Webtoons seems to be by design. It's simply exists to publish popular Naver webtoons in English plus it offers English language webcomics.

It doesn't mean there isn't a fandom for those comics. In Korea, the fans simply go to a Naver hosted net cafe (forum), the address is often at the end of the webtoon chapter and comment there sometimes and the creator replies to them. However, LINE webtoons doesn't seem to have that option. You pretty have to figure how to go round to building community for your comic.

The lack of PR at LINE webtoons is really odd. Spottoon is another sire that also hosts Korean webtoons in English but they do have someone that answers reader questions.

I think i solved it, why line webtoons has more audience from tapastic , it's the culture man , look , in europe we don't read comics as much as US does or japan and korea , and i think that the amount of people that reading comics is higher in the east side of our planet , plus i think the comic industry in europe is way below than US or JAPAN OR CHINA OR KOREA , and my guess is tha tapastic has more west people than asians and we all know that asia is over the half planet , anyway i think you know where my argument is going , don't know if it's right .

Different audience on both sites. Webtoon supports beginning comics and new talents. Tapas doesn't lately.
I can only stay on Tapas because Webtoons only supports JPG.

Europeans doesn't read a lot of comics? I don't read a lot of European comics but doesn't Spain, Italy, Finland, and especially France/Belguim have lots of comics. Anywhere else in Europe not so much.

i don't know if they read on the web but real paper comics don't make huge sales like in US or JAPAN,KOREA...

I'm from France and from my observation (so that doesn't mean anything haha), we stick to what we know/like and we are huge fan of physical formats.
Reading comics online on a smartphone ? Nope...
Reading comics from unknown artists ? Nope...

That sounds pessimistic but unless the reader have interest in Art or follow a couple comic artist, the usual consumers won't go out of their way to find gems.
Webtoon and Tapastic are still very new here or I dare say, still yet to be discovered haha.
We have 2 major platform called "Mangadraft" (but the format favour the regular layout and composition) and "Delitoon" (but they pick their own artists and project, there is no place for up and coming artist)
