Dear potential scientist,
I am excited to introduce you to the Super Science Club category! Being an essential part of this community you are invited to take part in this clubs activities, provide feedback and add your own ideas.
Why did we create this club?
Like many of you I have been with Tapastic for quite some time now, posting regularly with a growing readership. Unfortunately, the growth of my comic slowed down in the last couple of weeks. It took some time to realize that I was not alone with this - but even after discussing the problem with other creators I could not explain the numbers. Luckily Michael was kind enough to provide needed insight into the situation.
Many comics, especially long-form, start noticing a slowdown in growth after roughly 7 months of posting their comic on Tapastic. The amount of unsubscribers and subscribers are often equal in number, making it hard to move up. Tapastic is aware of this issue and tries to support creators with features, but the reasons behind the slowdown are not always clear.
Short-form comics do not face this issue. Mainly because of one thing: Shares. Sharing is the most successful tool to fight the slowdown, get new followers and grow. Short-form comics are beloved by many and shared all over the web, making them as successful as they are today.
But Ratique, what do you want us to do about this?
The magic lies in marketing. A few of us are naturals and use tools like Twitter and Facebook to their full advantage. But there are not many cases of creators creating successful forms of marketing within Tapastic. This club is here to discuss creative, fun ideas of marketing using the current Tapastic interface as well as external sites. We can test and discuss the outcome of those ideas, with Michael here to provide input from Tapastic’s point of view and to collect data.
How can I get people to share my comic without being obnoxious? What can I do to have more interactions with my readers? Are there some ideas that my readers would appreciate and that are fun to create? Can I work closely together with other creators? How many numbers can we pull out of Michal’s brain without killing him? Those are the type of questions we would like to tackle over the next couple months.
But I don’t notice any slowdown in growth!
Congratulations, senpai! Please stay and participate, so we can share our experiences and ideas with each other. Nobody is required to take part in our discussions however. It is completely fine to ignore this and other Super Science Club threads.
And I don’t even have a comic, I just read.
Even better - we are in urgent need of an unbiased outsider point of view.
Dude, you are writing an essay…
Let me conclude by saying that I have been very vague in this post on purpose. There are many ideas I am looking forward to sharing with you, but first and foremost I am interested to see if YOU want to be part of this. What pops into your mind? Do you even care about this or is marketing about as exciting to you as washing dishes?
I am looking forward to your input!
Tl;dr: Increase your webcomic’s growth with fun marketing ideas together with other Tapastic creators.
