Regardless of whatever creative thing you're doing, I don't think it will ever be perfect in your eyes. That just what it is to be an artist. (I mean, just look at what George Lucas did, reediting all the original Star Wars movies, and those were pretty darn perfect.) Perfection isn't really a fair expectation to have of yourself.
I have A LOT of problems with the first novel that I put up on this site, but I left it as is because it was a learning experience for me. (I might go back and pull a George Lucas on it later, but for now it stays.) I'm proud to look at it now and say, "Here's where I started."
But I guess that doesn't really answer your question, so I should say that one of the things I learned while writing it was to take a break before editing. I'll finish a chapter and then move on to the next two or three before I go back and edit again. It helps you get a better sense of where the story is going so that things are more consistent, and it helps you see it with fresh eyes too. If you sit there and read it over immediately after writing it, it's harder to be objective.
Also, people loooove cheesy things. If you enjoy writing cheesy things, then write them! Don't let the judgement of a few lactose intolerant readers throw you off.
