I've been trying to branch out and read different genres lately. Currently 1/4 through Jane Austen's Emma on a friend's recommendation, but as of now, all of my top favorites are still fantasy. ^^
Last few books I've read have been sorely disappointing, but Austen is a favorite of many of my book-reading friends, so I'm hoping Emma breaks my unlucky streak. I crave more well-written, character-driven stories and find them hard to come by.
Favorite books/series:
The Fitz and the Fool by Robin Hobb
The Liveship Traders Trilogy by Robin Hobb
The Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson
The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson (First two books, at least. Third and up have lost me, but I spent at least a third of my (albeit short) life worshipping The Way of Kings as the pinnacle of writing before discovering Robin Hobb)
'Til We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis
The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher (later books especially)
The Riyria Revelations by Michael Sullivan
