Gather 'round kids, because I've got a story about a punk rock song!
Screeching Weasel! Fronted by the notorious Ben Weasel, an irreputable punk rocker. This guy is your stereotypical punk: loud, obnoxious, total jerk, and even punched out two chicks on stage (Even though, fun fact, they were most definitely asking for it) but, he provokes some alternative ideas at least.
Anyway, Brendan Kelly, plays in my favorite band, The Lawrence Arms. This guy is way wittier, at some point Ben Weasel decides he doesn't like Kelly and takes shots at him in a blog and radio show or something silly. This Weasel guy is as real immature jerk, y'know, but it's like watching a heel wrestler. He's cartoonishly bad and it genuinely makes the music fun.
So this song? This song is Weasel talking shit about Kelly. He employs Brendan's writing style of "Stories written from the perspective of someone different from the author, who, he probably really hates". Weasel really tries to be witty and really give it to him but it's like these dudes are a couple classes apart in lyricism so it falls completely short. It's a song talking smack about another guy, and in the end it makes said other guy look way cooler. And for that, I love this song.
Man, getting someone to write their Little Big Man against me is a bucket list item.
