Considering we are all artsy people here... I was curious if anyone else is making something for loved ones or other people this year as gifts.

I cured and smoked bacon for family and close friends with a tote bag to go to them.

Then I sewed tote bags for my son's teachers/education team (he's in SPED).

I may have went a lil bonkers... if my oven was working I'd be making cookies too.

Anyway, what are you making if anything? Pics if able (I'm not quiet done yet)

I will be "making" my in-laws miserable. Does that count?

Well at least you'll have sarcasm left over for christmas morning

Man, years back when I had more free time I often used to draw my friends each a picture present @u@ or at least a christmas card.

This year the only handmade gift I'm giving out is kind of a joke present to one dood... earlier in the year he was like super drunk and drew a random sonic the hedgehog OC as a joke and did it up like a deviant art post (likes/dislikes/"OC, DO NOT STEAL") in colored pencil so... I'm gonna steal his OC and draw him a nice version xD what started out as a joke I'm gonna take too far lmao. Gonna try and mirror the style of like the sonic adventure 2 character art. Was always a fan of that sega style~

edit: no pics yet because I haven't started ahaha... but once I get to some decent WIP point I'll return xD this should be a fun project

Neat! I'm almost done with the bags.... this kid sin 1st grade and has like....9 teachers and a bus driver. What was I thinking? >.<

Oh jeez, quite the challenge! This reminds me of when I was in elementary school... we had this renaissance fair thing and I ended up making some draw string pouches as my "trade good". But my mom helped me make those as well! Good times haha

Now I have to seam rip T_T Why am I doing LINED ones? They wouldn't have cared!

bout two years ago i did an entire secret santa thing for my DnD group cause i didnt have enough money to get them all gifts, so i made them all tell me what i should draw for the person i assigned them too. IT was a ton of fun but ultimately way more work then i thought it would be. Im sadly not doing anything this year because I have several other projects ive signed onto @w@

Ugh god no, I'm the worst gift-giver ever. One year I gave my friend a banana and a pack of gum and she said it was my best one yet
although this year, I might try knitting ^_^

I don't even know what I am gifting away. I pay the bills, and Mrs. Z does all of the gift shopping at this time of year. She doesn't trust me to do this myself. I will learn what I gave away when people open their gifts from me.

For my mom -- a nice bottle of the champagne she enjoys. I'll put a bow on the neck XD

My uncle loves all things camera, so possibly a nice camera bag for him.

And my dad will get some better gloves because he works a lot of UPS shifts for the holidays, and Chicago winter is no joke.

I've recalled how some time ago I've presented the "SEGMENTATION FAULT" as a gift to my boyfriend.
In fact, it was the executable program with only the two functions:

  • When it started, it showed the greeting card with some greetings on the holiday background and the big button "receive the surprise gift"
  • When the user clicked on the button, the program crashed with "SEGMENTATION FAULT", because it was exactly the gift.

It was the fail, cause he launched the program from graphic interface, and it just closed after clicking a button without an error message. I've forgot that by default this error message is shown to user only if the program is started from the console, so it can be read from this console.
So I've said "NO! Launch this program from the CONSOLE to see the main gift message in it", and at this moment he already guessed what the "gift" is cause he was already accustomed to my pranks

I have no idea what to gift this New Year, so I'll maybe track this thread for ideas. į•¦( Ķ”Ā° ĶœŹ– Ķ”Ā°)į•¤
P.S. It have been revealed that he prefers more useful gifts

I don't celebrate Christmas nor New Year, but good food is always a gift everyday

Also I did draw a chibi shirtless santa Thor to please my friend's gay ass, he said he will try to make it into keychain. It's not meant to be a Christmas gift, though.

Well, i don't preparing anything actually. Except backpack full of booze for myself to make my night streets wandering more exciting and fun if there is won't be anybody to hang up together at the new year  And if there will be, then my backpack be great addition to others' storage

I made a an arrow and target keychain for a friend on mine who loves archery and I'm planning on drawing something up for another one. Also going to get my mother a nice scarf.

I'm making a stuffed animal of my friend's character. it doesn't look..... presentable.. yet, so I won't upload a picture until later

Last year I sent my Canadian art friend a portrait of her character + handmade knitted donuts by another artist. This year my partner and I are cooking breakfast and dinner for his family, and I'm making a little picture of his sister's dog.

I always make specialized cards for my family and close friends, and I do what has been coined "monster wrapping" where I turn each present into a monster / creature. (It started as a way to disguise my horrible wrapping skills).

... I just finished prepping the bacon for friends and making 3 more bags.

That's it! Its official! I lost my mind!

At least my student's exams are over. sorta. Except the two that didn't show ...

im currently working on an fantasy gaming comic

hope it stands up to tapas level

I'm somewhat creatively burnt out towards the end of this year, so all the energy I've got for artsy gifts will be going to drawing the line-up of my partner's characters, from stories and posts on a roleplay forum he frequents. It's by no means a surprise- I know he's very excited about it x') (which makes me happy too, if a little performance anxious)

Other than that, I've been trying to find small, reusable environmentally conscious things to give people. If I can't make them, I aim for things by other artists/crafters. Novelty teas in decorative tin boxes you can keep. Colourful sculpted soaps. Basically small, inexpensive, but chosen with a friend's particular quirks in mind.

Normally I really don't like shopping for things. But I love giving gifts, so it balances out xD

I'm making a calendar for a friend which includes paintings and fanarts of his novel characters for each month, I hope I'll look good when it's finished

Niiiiice! That sounds super fun! You gonna sneak in any jokes?

Pushed this off to the last minute (the gift exchange with my friends is tonight xD) but here's a WIP of the gift I described earlier:

This pic is so silly, having a blast drawing it xD Hope he likes it as well. Onto coloring! First time using my markers in... months haha

I used to make SO many of my gifts when I was a teenager with little sisters who loved doll clothes, but nowadays I don't make so many gifts...although I did design a coffee mug for my brother-in-law, and I'm giving a bunch of my Austenite friends/sisters journals I designed with Jane Austen quotes on the cover. Every year I remember--too late!--that I want to do illustrated calendars or design custom tea towels or something. There's always next year, right? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I cant say I'm "making" it, but so to say, I finished making it :U
it's a music video for this comic:

and it's gonna be released on christmas uwu

I am happy to say the bacon and tote bags have been thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated!
