Interesting! I think even with my own characters I tend write people that lean towards being more analysts and diplomats according to the MBTI. But I think irl people that share the same MBTI type will appear very different, there’s lot of different ways to explore whichever style of thinking they have.

Even in your first post I see there’s a lot of character with the similar type, but they are very different characters even though they might share some traits. And I think that’s pretty cool that you’re able to show different perspectives with characters that have a similar MBTI personality type. I do the same in my own work.

And I feel like irl our personalities shift and exist in the in between of things, so you could very well be both! I’ve taken the test multiple times over the years and I’ve been INFJ, ENFJ, and INTJ. Also like that’s so weird because my bro also has taken the test for me and he always ends up with INTJ for me too, so I guess we’re both perceived with a similar personality type! XD Maybe it’s a sibling thing lol

Maybe lol, but I know he is pretty accurate with his perception of me XDD

Alrighty:

Andrew: ENFJ-T (protagonist)

This is unsurprising as he very much so gives off the friendly, "I love everyone" golden retriever energy typical of a shonen protagonist, though he's only a side character lol.
He's the sort of character who dislikes no one unless they give him a reason too, and he does many of the things he does based on how they make him feel, regardless of how wise a decision it would be in the long run. This is made pretty clear by this excerpt:

“You waited 3 months to tell me you were in a crash?”

“It wouldn’t have done you any good to know…”

“Done me any good? I could have sent you - or come to see you - arranged something - been praying instead of just believing we were alright-” his voice sounds like tears-

Jinho ISTJ-T, the Logician.

Again, that makes a lot of sense. He's Andrew's saving grace, and Drew knows it. Without Jinho helping take the reins of the business a bit Andrew would be letting his humility and people-pleaser attitude keep him down, and people would be getting over on him. Jinho is generally pretty focused on reason and facts, the only person whose feelings he prioritizes are Andrew. He's not a jerk, but he also doesn't go out of his way to try to make anyone else happy.

Now for "Rigamarole" Leia is INFP-T, the mediator.

This made SO much sense the second I thought about the name. It's literally the role she complains about having to play in the very second section, but she's showing the way she plays it in the very first. She's trying to be the buffer between her parents and her brother to keep chaos from ensuing.

I feel like Adam and Eve must have - trying to ignore the sound of our parents downstairs in the living room asking where we are - if we’ve come home from school yet-

I almost shut the bathroom door, leaving my foot in the space between the door and its frame - whispering harshly for all my panic-

“Wash your face.”

Riley obeys. Plunging his hands into the ice cold water vomiting from the sink, he wipes the last delicate dribbles of golden bile from his lower lip, and I shove the door open again with a violence that makes it slam against the wall behind it - leaving a dent like a pitted scar-

“Now hurry up and get to your room and your homework before they come up here.”

This he does too, without a word, and I pretend not to notice the smudging in his eyeliner - hoping mom and dad won’t notice either.

I still have to do Riley, Melissa and Emelia.

But this shows me interestingly enough, how the same personality type can show itself very differently.

@beebutterbee had asked me if my FLs tended to have similar personalities, and while I'm almost positive my other female leads are very different from these two, I was surprised to find the Leia and Alicia are the same one. When I took the test for Alicia, I had yet to even write the way she served as a mediator in her childhood to protect her little brother from the reality of their mother, but as I wrote it, it just made sense for her, without me even remembering it was her MBTI type.

Both Leia and Alicia serve these roles in their lives, but this displays entirely differently between the two of them. Though when I think about it, they both mediated by lying and keeping secrets a lot. That said, while they have a lot of behavioral parallels, their methodologies could basically not be more different most of the time.

They both tried to protect their little brothers from the harm they could suffer from their mothers, and both did so by lying, like a lot. But Alicia has always been a much sweeter, babying, cuddly affectionate person who would easily be assumed to be a "damsel" until people learn more about her. Meanwhile Leia is harsh, aggressive, and would probably be considered mannish by most people, very obviously the knight in shining armor in her novel. Alicia's mental health issues stand out on the surface while people would think Leia is a totally fine, in control "put together" "tough" person because she believes she can't be weak. Alicia's view of herself fluctuates easily while Leia's doesn't really. She's not very happy with it, but she usually knows how she feels about things and where she stands, while Alicia definitely doesn't.

Now I'm just curious where my newest female lead falls. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't match with the other two, but then again, Leia and Alicia are more different than I'd originally supposed.

Still, I think despite the odd similarity between these two, Eliza and Essence are nothing like these two, so it's probably just an unusual coincidence XD.

I'm also kind of curious how alike my male leads are as well now, but Kattar and Riley are probably night and day XD.

Did this a while ago, when another thread asked this:

Funnily enough, I myself am also an INTJ. So I'm the complete opposite of my main character and identical to my antagonist :joy:

lol this is so funny I’m also identical MBTI to my main antagonist also :sob::sob::sob: what does this mean about us??!

[palm on forehead] I just realized I’ve never done the MBTI test for Mev and Ian!
i will return with results

He’s 100 percent introverted?!??! I mean yeah I see it lol I love that for him honestly. And Mev is great I love her :sob::heart::heart:️ Lady Lock is an extrovert with an introvert girlfriend, who I haven’t shown to much of yet but she will be reappearing after the festival! But the dynamic is just so fun to write about :sparkles: I can’t wait to read more of Ian(TM) and his deranged gorgon bestie!!

Ah, the next episode is tomorrow and we’ll be seeing plenty of Mev <3

what's your MBTI type?

did you really mean that it makes sense or is this sarcasm lol?

I totally agree. this is the same way with Alicia and Kattar and Jinho and Andrew. Both introverts with extroverted besties, though Alicia definitely seems to enjoy Kattar's company more than Jinho will ever let on in Andrew's case lol.

no, it wasn’t sarcasm :sweat_02: He is pretty introverted. I just thought it was funny how it said 100%

@ArtGremlin I don't think I have a single character who would qualified as 100% introvert lol.

Oh btw, did you see my question asking if you wanted you drawing of Kattar entered into my DTIYS as an entry?

yeah I know, the chats can get so crowded lol, it's impossible to see anyone's messages

Riley is apparently the Adventurer ISFP-T. My first character that's one of the yellow personality types. But I figured he would end up being pretty different from the character's I've had so far.

Melissa is an ENFJ-A, which makes sense, since she and Andrew have a lot in common. Despite both having really tragic lives, they have really positive outlooks on life, and choose to be happy rather than depressed.

Emelia is an ISTJ-A, which I can see, because she's like the dark mirror of Jinho in a lot of ways in her interaction with Alicia. Jinho knows a lot and uses it to build Andrew up in the areas where he's ignorant and uses his sensible nature to be strong for the both of them, while Emelia uses her logical nature to be demeaning and tear Alicia down for being emotional.

For my leads from "A Dozen Morning Glories"

Essence Walker is a 92% introverted ISFJ-T (Defender) this isn't surprising, as she makes most of decisions around trying to care for and make other people as happy an comfortable as she can manage.

Dominic Giang is an ENFP-A (Campaigner) 74% extroverted, which makes sense. he is very chipper and sociable, but he doesn't mind being alone with a book to enjoy his days either.

Now to just do Shaun, and Dorine, and Cocoa, and Honey, and Ben, Dominic's parents and I'll have done all the central characters from "A Dozen Morning Glories."

Oh wait, and Angie, and Erika, and Avis, and Tiffany, and Lillian.

dying slightly.
