What do you consider low, medium, and high tier in terms of subscribers?

It's honestly thanks to these forums. I've learned so much about Tapas here and everyone has been so generous with sharing their knowledge and giving feedback on my early chapters. It really reassured me that posting my work on Tapas was the right choice

The forums and this little section of the community doesn't completely reflect the whole of the Tapas ecosystem. Many posters here may struggle to reach 100 subs or 250 subs. We have a few popular users here and even a few premium creators in the forums, but they tend to get drowned under the usual forum citizens.

I usually think 1000 is a nice benchmark across any platform. It's usually when you hit 4 digits that you think to yourself "wow, 1000 is a big number to imagine."

So, I'll just throw in my 2 inks' worth and say:

<1000 = smol
=1000+ = medium
10,000+ = bigG STRONK

My subscription number is low ... but anyway, I feel is more important to see the like numbers on the most recent upload as it tells the real number of the active readers ....

I can’t even imagine a way to 1K subs. Like daily updates for over a year with something like those million words per novels? I have seen a post yesterday that you might be able to get on the staff Binge list after completion, but if you don’t, for a regular story, in 70-100K words range, 3-4 months of daily updates is all you can squeeze out of it.

At 100 days daily run, you need 10 subs per day... that’s huge. I think @WillowTree might be getting in that range with BL werewolf, but I dunno what other genre can match that popular appeal.

And that’s just to get out of smol.

Do you guys know if the visibility improves on any sub number? Like it gets pushed to that other app I sort of vaguely remember hearing about?

I think as you complete more works it'll help grow subscribers too. My second novel has 45 subscribers and it only updates weekly. There're 3 chapters out, but people who've read and liked "The Love of a Werewolf" have also checked it out and that's helped it get it's start. If I were updating it daily as well then I imagine I would be getting a boost to both TLoaW and The Demon of the Sea as people discover both.

Also, I'm not quite averaging 10 subs a day, but I have been lucky the past two days with subs

Yeah, I am starting to skip two days per week next week, hoping to extend the series run. I am hoping the next story will be one of those that can just go on and on. Tapas really leans towards the unending books vs the more concise ones that way

Agreed. It REALLY depends on the type of subscribers you have. you could theoretically get 1k sub for subs that don't actually read or engage with your content. It's why I preface when some says sub 4 sub to me that I don't do that but I will look through their comic and if I like it I'll subscribe and that I hope they'll do the same

@WillowTree so I might have a more concrete answer! Sorry for the delay, my editor and I had a few e-mail exchanges about this.

So, this isn't a set in stone sort of answer but based on the experience of my editor. I still found it insightful.

For free-to-read series: A good milestone is 100-250 subs, but a lot of novels tend to get bogged down at the 300-400 mark but if the series reaches 1K, that is viewed as a success story for the platform.

For Premium novels: 2k means the story is doing ok. 10K is considered to have done very well and is the threshold that Tapas typically aims for novels.

There's still a lot of gaps, but given that novels are still fairly new to Tapas, it's to be expected. I hope that provides a little more detail for you!

I like having a goal in mind and I wasn't quite sure what to shoot for after I reach 250 subscribers, so I guess my next goal after 250 will be to get past 300-400 mark and hope my novel doesn't get bogged down
