What do you count as funny?

I like dark humor, British humor pop culture, clever humor,dry humor ( all though thats on tv)
example type shows - black books, mr bean, early simpsons ,community, rick and morty

the humor i hate is low brow, impressions , animal abuse, potty humor, and shit like "damn Daniel"

I'm weird with humor, but my favorite comedian is Gabriel Iglesias. He's funny without being in-your-face offensive and a lot of his jokes are story-based which I really appreciate. I really hate jokes that try too hard to be edgy, I also am not a fan of relationship jokes, I cannot relate to those 90% of the time.

For TV, I get consistent chuckles with Bob's Burgers. The part with Teddy and his sleep apnea had me rolling.
As far as movies go, the last one where I laughed my ass off was that one bit in Django Unchained where the slave hunters were complaining about their hoods. I had never laughed so hard at a scene in a movie.

Then sometimes I just think of awful things and I laugh at them. Like at my cousin's wedding I was trying to get my mind off of not crying (cuz I'm a big softie) and thought of the candles behind them accidentally setting the pastor on fire. Then instead of trying not to cry, I had to try not to laugh.

Dry humour is my thing. Comedians like Dylan Moran, Bill Burr and David Mitchell really get me going.

With regards to dialogue witty remarks and sly comments make me grin.

Scenario wise, very serious, well to do, or respected people being but in strange situations always makes me laugh (a villain arguing with a child, say).

Awkwardness isn't funny to me (think Meet The Parents) but general incompetence is (What We Do In The Shadows, Outnumbered).

Characters who clown around and try hard to crack jokes really wind me up.

Zapp Brannigan makes me laugh more than Philip J Fry, but Bender is such a terrible person I might prefer him over both.

I love subtle humor. Dark humor sometimes too, but there is a line.

Personally, I love stupid inappropriate humor. My work reflects that pretty consistently. It needs to be set up properly, though.... not just "hahaha penis" kind of thing. The joke must be paced well.

I'm not so much into the kind of humor where the relatability is the point, either. I'll read it and understand why people like it and relate to it, but it won't really amuse me. I prefer humor that's about specific people in a specific situation, with authentic-feeling well-rounded characters.

Oh, and for types of humor I generally don't tend to like: "Cringe" comedy - well, this one varies a bit depending on what it is but ESPECIALLY things like real-life video "cringe compilations", they're either just uncomfortable and not even in a funny way, or just seem too mean-spirited (oh lol lets make fun of these people just goofing around and having a good time just because they looked kinda silly doing it), in general I handle fictional "cringe" stuff better than real life but still generally not a fan. Also fart/poop jokes, grossout humor and overly offensive-for-the-sake-of-offense-I'M SO EDGY stuff... laughtracks on TV shows also makes the jokes way less funny (if they were even funny in the first place) And rage comic faces (one of the memes I can't stand)
As for relatable jokes, they can be pretty hit-or-miss even when I do relate.

I can laugh at anything provided the humor is aimed at what the character does instead of what the character is. In one situation you're making fun of the situation the character is in, in the other you are making fun of the traits of the character and that road lies ugly, crass humor that sometimes crosses over to downright hate. As in jokes where the punchline is that X is funny because she's a woman or a fat person or trans etc. In 99,999999% of cases it is not funny, just mean. You can certainly feature funny stuff happening to all the above groups and more but it will only be good comedy when the joke isn't at the expense of their basic traits but flows from their interaction with other people/things/alien space rocks etc.

As long as the jokes are those, I'll most likely find it funny.
(especially dark humour, that stuff is great)
