not a heck of a lot, but due to my slight amount of research i did for a story once, I know the second most common language is Russian, apparently the name Simon is spelled Symon... and thats really I I've ever really thought to check out about Ukraine :v very random useless bits of information (considering I don't even speak russian so its not like that would be an easy vacation spot for my vocal cords) XD

A bit! But my knowledge is kind of unevenly distributed across Ukraine's history.

For example, I could spend quite some time talking about the Kievan Rus and the early Slavic cultures, and I could spend quite a bit more time talking about the latest conflict with Russia, and then some time in between that talking about Sevastopol and WWII, but beyond that? My knowledge of Ukraine is kind of full of blank spots.

It has one of the easiest European flags to remember, though - especially since it shares its colours with my own country, Sweden! - and I know where it is on the map. But up until this latest civil war/invasion by Russia, Ukraine hasn't really figured into my daily life a whole lot, so I haven't learned much about it.

It's the breadbasket of Europe. The flag is half light blue on the top, half yellow on the bottom. Their national soccer/football team made it to the quarterfinals of the World Cup in 2006. I'm wearing a T-shirt from then right now.

What I know of Ukraine is that the country seems to have these gorgeous architectures!

And a lot of what has happened lately, like the uproar, and the airplane that got shot down, the people on Krim half-island wanting to be Russian republic (or so media told me).
When I heard about the rebellion uproar (for what reason, I've forgotten) I was scared that it would become a third world war, since the civil war seemed to be so big and awful D:
It looks like it's calmed down a bit on that part? There hasn't been much news about Ukraine in a while, mainly because the Swedish Radio talks more about the immigrants and all the wrongs and don'ts our government does and doesn't.

And... Ukraine always participate in the ESC?
Didn't they win in 2009 or so? Or maybe that was much more recent?

2000 years ago there was a lot of tribes (unns, mongols), who moved in all the europe clashing over the roman empire.
it was the place of the chernobyl disaster 30 years ago, it was a land under the URSS and now its under attack from the russian forces for geopolitick business (russian dont allow nato near their areas). there was the yellow revolution in the beginning of 2000. russian poisoned politic prime minister (and some other, i remeber someone else death in london time later)

I believe their flag symbolizes the sky and their golden wheat fields. Something like that. All the Ukrainians I've met here in Canada are really nice people, also my favorite DotA player is Ukrainian so there's that.
