For the longest time I had Piccolo from Dragon Ball as my avatar, because...
A. He's rad.
B. My comic's called Demon King,so it's thematically appropriate.
C. I couldn't change it on the forums for some reason, even though I had changed on the main site.

My current avatar's a fairly abstract self-portrait. It's kind of inaccurate now since I cut my hair a while back.

Well on Tapas it's a doodle of Majima Goro from the Yakuza series because I relate to him and I happen to have a distinctive cartoon style I like to draw Yakuza characters in - some of my Yakuza doodles have been popular.

On forums it is my persona - Wumblebum the Prince of Slime.
He has a place in my fictional universe as a member of the Slime Kingdom royal family and has his own story I haven't told yet - my s.o's persona is also in it (Nice Gator Caesar) as a love interest. It's a half real-life insert half inside joke that went too far. There's way too much accidental lore in everything I make.

Mine is the central protagonist of my webcomic - Artem, using his light manipulation ability while looking slightly enigmatic (I love those badass 'from the eyes down' shots they use in manga!)
