I've had a comic completely made with handwriting, the best thing I could say is if you are using handwriting, consider making sure the letters are big enough to read at a reasonable distance from the screen, and they aren't too squished.
for me personally, my "g"s end up looking like an "s" because how I write them, you could probably consider taking how you write letters into account.
otherwise, I'd probably just google "free fonts" or something, and make sure you read the whole copyright thingy on what they can be used for (if you don't make money from your comic, you can use most for whatever)
just open the zip, drop everything on the desktop (or folder, doesn't matter) and right click, hit install, you will have the font on your PC when you go to check for one.
be sure to read the instructions on the site.
sites I used are 1001free fonts and font squirrel, that's where I got mines.
