cries because i hit the wrong answer on the second one and it just kinda did it and now i cant back out.
I'd say mine is a contemporary fantasy w lgbt themes, but alas...
I get what youâre saying no need to explain! I just canât really contribute since my comic is very 50/50!
But hey you got other folks who can contribute!
Drama is a genre that deals with generally non-epic situations in a serious context, in a tone more likely to inspire sadness than laughter. Nevertheless, the drama etymologically evokes action. Generally, a drama is based on a scenario approaching with as little humor as possible a serious theme (death, misery, rape, drug addictionâŚ) which can be painful, revolting; an injustice. It can be inspired by history (with themes like WWII as in She Was Called Sarah) or current events. Also Drama =/= Tragedy.
Whatever "Pretty characters killing each other" falls under
no option for action
Only the darkest of fantasies from me. Interesting how there's an exponential value for the votes here thought. That really gets you thinking, doesn't it?
mine i would call a dark scifi fantasy because of more harder topics and generally my universe is pretty effed up
Mine is a psychological drama, but since drama isn't a thing in the polls I just put psychological.
For my first webcomic, I often describe it as urban fantasy or urban mythology. The second one is a GL Romcom.
It's fantasy with elves in it, but I can't really call it high fantasy. And despite having a gay protagonist and writer I'm hesitant to really say I have strong lgbt themes? That always makes me think of romance or coming-out stories and I don't really have either in my comic planned?
My webcomic is slice of life & comedy
my comic will be a portal fantasy possibly with comedy, but it depends how funny my writing is =/
i think portal fantasy is slightly niche, but at the same time, Alice in Wonderland and the Chronicles of Narnia both fall into the portal fantasy genre.
Ok, I knew my comic was in the minority, but 1%? Damn, no space for historical mangas lol
well that means less competition for you then
D'you know Scott Pilgrim? it gave me the most ispiration for mine. So comedy, set in today's world, friendship, slice of life, a bit of romance, and people know how to fight just because it's cool. Know what? here's the link of course:
I chose sci-fi --> "space opera" because that seems to be a catch-all term for "stories taking space in the future and in space". IMO a space opera deals with grand political.galaxy-spanning intrigue (hence "opera" - everything is Very Important and Dramatic a la soap opera), but recently I've heard it applied to ALL kinds of things that weren't space operas as defined above (for example. Becky Chambers' novels keep getting described as "space opera" when in reality the three that I read were all about just little people in the future living their lives). My story is about one girl in a big galaxy going on an adventure with her AI spaceship friend trying to find the girl's mom. I don't think it's a space opera, but it's also not really any of the other sci-fi genres either. I wanted to hit the "slice of life" button, but it feels a bit too plot-driven to truly be slice-of-life.
This is a hard one for my project. It starts off as slice-of-life, then becomes contemporary fantasy/sci-fi. Should have thought of genre better before writing, but I still love this story.
