Expansion, camaraderie, martyrdom, morality, and family. These are the define traits of the Abbasians, the most powerful and adaptable humans created by a man name Abbas-A-Saud. The Arab war god.

After the desolation on Earth caused by the final world war in the early 26th century, the Abbasians left earth with 500 million of its people on 5 titan void ships. Each carrying a hundred million to travel 600 light years away from the solar system to start and expand a new galactic empire.

Despite being biologically enhanced super humans, will it be enough to overcome the harsh realities of the galaxy? The horrors? The destruction? And power of hostile Xenos?

One thing is certain, the Abbasians never accepts any defeat. For only through extinction, are they defeated.

Well, I got interested because I studied H.G. Wells for A-level and grew up reading Douglas Adams.

The only thing about sci-fi that I like is time travel. I got interested in it after I first watched Back to the Future.

It's overlap with political, social, philosophical, spiritual issues. The dreamed up future technologies are secondary.

I was always into the 1950s and scifi was a big thing, movies, design, songs, comics etc in that era.
I like the trashy not so serious part of scifi.
There were also some cool scifi movies when I was a teenager in the
80s, Star Wars, Back to the future.
I was just listening to the Captain Future soundtrack when I was warming up

Damn, Imagine without these problems, humanity would at least manage to colonize and Expand on Mars and nearly all of its moons, And would later find a way to expand outside of the solar system.

Imaginary science and world building is my favorite part

For me it is the variety within the settings. Sci-fi is often put in the same category as fantasy, but unlike the latter, where everyone is basically cribbing notes from Tolkien one way or the other, scifi often has a wider variety within the settings. Foundation, Dune, star wars, and warhammer 40k are all built on a similar skeleton yet they are also incredibly different in the structure of their world.

I don't remember exactly what made me like science fiction, but it was probably influenced by my dad also enjoying the genre and being into science and tech in general. Then I remember watching an old animated movie adaptation of Journey to the Center of the Earth, which led me to Jules Verne's books, and it snowballed from there.

As for what catches my interest, I like adventures in general (especially if there is some high stakes drama involved), but I particularly enjoy the type of science fiction that takes a real-world technology or scientific question and imagines what could happen if such tech could be taken in a different direction, or if a new discovery could make ideas or research in early stages become reality. I also like sci-fi that's based on biology, but that's probably because I work in biology and can understand the details a little better ^^

Here on Tapas I have an ongoing comic that I started when I was in grad school a while back; I was using nanoparticles to label cells and it wasn't working (it never worked in the end), so I thought it was funny how in scifi often nanotechnology is this magic thing that works at the first try and does everything you need, and that inspired the beginning of the comic -> https://tapas.io/series/Terra-Prima/info

For me, it is clearly Adventure that attracted me the most. Discovering new places, new species, and very different civilizations.

Over time, becoming increasingly aware of the relationship between reality and science fiction, I developed a curiosity about the "everyday life" aspect that this way of living involves.

I have always wondered what the daily lives of the background characters are like, those who lead a "normal" life and on whom we don't dwell.

From this desire, my best friend and I created a comic that we just happily released.
It's about people working for a space transport company and the challenges they encounter during their journey across the galaxy.
So, adventure and daily life with a touch of social awareness regarding the world of work.
