Huge, huge heartbreak for me was this summer because the two things came together:
The novel I wrote in one breath and loved to bits, Princess, Dragon, Rogue got zero readership on Wattpad. Seeing that it had a dragon-shifter as the leading male, I was taken completely by surprise. I literally wallowed in self-pity. this was the hardest fall I've taken in my writing. I truly believed it was a wonderful story that people would love.
Then, just as I started to climb out of this hole, doing a frantic read for read promo for Trapped by the Mafia there, Wattpad took the forums off-line in July. And forums was my only lifeline... also, I am pretty sure that the algorithm was dead at that point.
I thought this was it. I am done. Finished. I basically just entered everything in Watty and was ready to throw in the towel. I had been on Wattpad for 2 heartbreaking years at that point, and nothing was helping. I was under the radar. I started to believe that my stories just don't have what it takes to attract attention on-line.
Bringing Trapped by the Mafia to Tapas and getting readership with simply posting the story got me invigorated. I don't know how my next book would do, but I am happy about how Trapped by the Mafia did, and I am glad I've tried Tapas for it.
