Hi!
So I post the audio of one of my stories on ReaderCoin.
The real point of my replying is to give my insight into how much time it takes to narrate my story, to give you a sense of the time commitment involved.
My chapters tend to be between 3000 and 5000 words long. Some a little over, some a little less, but most are in that range. Most of my chapters, once narrated, are about 20 minutes long, give or take. It usually takes me between 30 to 40 minutes to record them, depending on how much I mess up and have to re-do. It's actually not that much effort, and not that big a time commitment. You could easily do a chapter a day on your lunch break, or before bed, or whenever. The only tricky thing is reading well. You really realize how many little errors you make while you're trying to record yourself reading. And it can feel tedious if you try to do multiple chapters in a row. I usually burn out after three chapters, and have to give up after four. Keep a glass of water nearby, your mouth will get dry and your voice raspy!
As for ReaderCoin itself, well, it's not like, the best venue for narrating your stuff because as far as I can tell, there is no comment system, no "liking" or favoriting system or anything; and 99% of the stuff on there is free domain historical stuff--buuuut, you can earn a little money on it. You get paid a teeny tiny bit for every 10 minutes someone spends reading or listening to your novel (and most people listen). I only have a few chapters up and get on average 10 to 14 "coins" a day, and you get $5 for every 2000 coins.
So it's not a lot at all and it takes a long time to add up, but the more stuff you post, obviously the more people listen and the more coins you get. It's a bit more profitable than what most people earn here on Tapas, I think. I wouldn't make it your primary place to post audio, but it certainly doesn't hurt to be on!
