Each character is from a different story.
Jill Parker: Justice for her dead friend.
Riley Webb: To survive juvie.
Thomas Lance: Solve murders, overcome his demons.
Nick and Chris: To improve themselves.

Sorry, took so long to respond, the forum didn't allow me to reply for whatever reason, LOL. The Older brother, Xepholen, is the target. His younger brother, Zalken, tends to be used as bait to control and manipulate the older one.
