So i'm browsing Webtoons as I usually do and I suddenly realise that many of the comics I count as "classics" cause I see them on the front page or on the top of most categories are actually comics that are often only 1-2 years old. And that got me thinking:
What is the life expectancy of a comic at it's peak, before it starts dying?
Similarly in that thread then:
How long is too long to keep a comic going?
Because while a comic with 300,000 subs might not ever "die" off completely, you do see comics that have been going for a long time that don't generate the same amount of likes to subs ratio that newer comics do. Or that might even get less likes/views than a smaller comic that has less subs.
Seeing the fast turnaround of what's popular in webcomics, gives me a sense of impounding pressure, that at any second i'm gonna be yesterdays news. Or maybe it's worse if you slowly see your comic doing worse over the months and you can't/don't know how to stop it.
Disclaimer, don't worry, I'm not in that situation right now haha, i'm actually doing fairly well, it's just a thought that's popped into my head since I keep up so much with what's trending/popular in the webcomic space and I'd like to hear people's opinions on it.
