What got you started with the twirls?

I definitely see the 80's and 90's anime influence in your work!

For all of my art overall, I'm not sure. I can draw and paint in a few different styles, and I try to keep personal elements out of it. I have been known to lean more red when drawing landscapes than other people looking at the same subject, and I tend to enjoy putting humor into all my subjects, if I possibly can.

But for Etherwood and its associated art, I have been doing all my inking in Sepia instead of black, which I hope lends it a warmer, softer vibe than black does. I also use a limited paint palette to 5 paints, with no black and no white except for specific effects.

The twirls originates from Greek Art. I was young and a novice on art. I want to fill in more details for the backgrounds such as walls, and I keep using these twirl-like structures that is revealed above and even underneath the characters:

That was a very long time before I join Deviant Art, and Tapas. As years go by, I am becoming more distant from it when I'm trying to put a more middle-eastern feel on the background. Still, one remained to this day and it's the twirls and funnily enough, it's on the top of the character's eyebrows. I take it must be my instincts on artstyles, or a reminder of how I was back then. I miss being a teenager.

Nice concept on the Light and Shadow. I believe Tapas need some horror elements to it. Be it on real events, Fantasy or Sci-Fi. (I miss the old Sci-Fi horror).

Reminds me of lego characters except for the obvious hand differences and the fact that the lego character's clothings are just textures compare to yours. Keep it up.

The circle hands are a bold artistic decision and I think it´s absolutely genius to do that.

Actually… those were my first comics! I used to draw Lego people WAAAAY back when I was 11. It was Lego Star Wars.
Guess my roots seeped into my style! Unsurprisingly.

I then drew Minecraft people in my middle school years then I got into drawing anime. And then somehow I started this style.

My style was also very inspired by anime mostly from chibis and the Miis which were influenced by kokeshi dolls

For me, it’s this thing I usually draw under my characters eyes! Not sure why but I like how it looks! It’s present in almost all my drawings (unless my art style makes it look weird)

The textures are toned down in my comic where there’s lineart, but not by much. The eyes are still giant, though.

Most comics from the Philippines have action scenes. Shonen anime is very popular over there

I personally would say it's probably the way I draw eyes:

The humongous size, small, ovular irises, colored eyelashes, et cetera.
Or, failing that, the way I draw noses.
I really like the eyebrow swirls, by the way! I like the sense of depth they give to the face.

Hmmm... if it's about art style in my comic, that would be:

-Style and detail changes depending on the mood of a scene.

-Exaggeration in the expression.

-A very contrasting character design, from pretty boys:

to unrealistically hideous dude:

But on average, the noticeable part would be blocky noses, hair strands, and warm color choices in the palette,

If it's about my art style in general, I'm pretty varied depending on what my client wants.

haha thank you! I admit it's not intentional, though-- I started out drawing ovals, but straight lines are so much easier for me, so they must have drifted over time without me noticing. I rather like the texture in your style as well. Even without the overlays, your line art is very textured ^^
