Pfft, man, idek. Most of what I hate is just regarding the adaptation of the series, rather than the series itself. Like I love Magical Girl Site but the anime adaptation just was so bad. Same with Kengan Ashura, tho the anime isnāt actually out yet I can tell from the Godawful CGI that itās not gonna be good - which sucks cuz the manga is amazing.
I suppose by default anything CGI automatically sucks unless itās done very well. Like Land of the Lustrous it worked cuz theyāre rocks. That and Gantz:0 had God tier CGI.
Hm, really Iām pretty good at pinpointing what I will and wonāt like so I rarely waste my time with anything that doesnāt have a decent synopsis or bland art style. So I guess Yuri On Ice would be the only thing I could think of that I just hated even tho I was interested at first.
That said I love Ikkitousen, tho the manga is much better - sadly it was never fully translated and Iāll forever be left hanging. In general I love fun clichĆ© bullshit. Whatever the anime equivalent of a B-movie is. Stuff that revels in sex and violence without sacrificing character, which is why I prefer Ikkitousen to other fanservice type anime - plus the first series put effort into its fanservice, they used an actual model as a reference for all the panty shots during action scenes.
I suppose in general Iām often not a fan of light novel turned anime stuff, like the stuff they churn out every season - usually made by the same studio - which has interchangeable protags and stories.
Iām not looking for anything deep, meaningful, or whatever. I can enjoy it but sometimes it bogs things down. Like Ergo Proxy. Is it bad? No. The first half was actually pretty good, then it just got boring in the second half to the point I couldnāt finish it.
But I mean I love fanservice, just not the rom-com type, more like the dark and gross type. I like Death game / survival scenarios and canāt get enough of them. I like stuff that looks pretty on the surface but itās actually pretty brutal. I like edgy bullshit but I want to care about the characters. I also like interesting stylistic choices such as the designs of Danganronpa characters and their use of neon pink blood.
Unfortunately most of what I enjoy either never gets made or is censored to the point I canāt watch it tho. Which is why I fear for one of my fave garbage series, The Island of Giant Insects (affectionately known as āthat manga where girls get raped to death by bugsā). Oh itās stupid, most of the characters are awful, there are grossly oversexualized deaths... and I love it. Also it has actually really very good gore. Alas they had to change artists but w/e.
Eh so thatās all I got really. I love stupid violent sexual junk, just not at the expense of character. I mean I had feelings and cried over a character in a hentai once. You know, Emergence by ShindoL. If you know it then you know why I had feelings. Itās... well, sad. But thereās a reason Iāve read it 5 times.
Iām going in the wrong direction here but my point is I love what is often seen as bad because itās basically schlock. Stuff a lot of people will dismiss too, like Nanbaka because of the unique color choices and character designs people write it off as fujo-bait (which it is but amazingly there are very few fujoshi in the fandom - to my utter disappointment). But itās hilarious and actually has a good overarching plot. It does mood whiplash pretty good too. But again the manga is just better. Either way, many write it off but I instantly fell in love with it.
Wait, I know the worst one Iāve ever seen - but to be fair I still like it for some inexplicable reason - that would be the ICE OVA. Itās basically yuri with the plot being about a gendercide and the women trying to make do in the world now. Itās incomprehensible garbage, objectivity speaking, not even all that entertaining tbh, but itās so bad itās good.
Tho I mean Iām still pretty good about telling right off the bat what I will or wonāt enjoy so I usually can avoid what I consider to be terrible anime.
