What is your least favourite part about doing a webcomic/novel

Why are big updates better than smaller, steadier updates tho? In other words, why is 4-6 pages, at once, per month better than 1 page per week (if I understand correctly)?

Honestly, I think it heavly depends on the type of comic but, personaly, for a long and continuos story, it's hard for me to keep track, interest and memory of past events if the story is updated with one page per week.

Nope, but I hope to! Again, time, the earliest one I can think of must be 100 pages away still, unless I post the chapter intro which will be faster to produce.

I mean, everyone has their method! I always go back to read the previous update because I have the memory of a goldfish anyway, but I see bigger creators dealing with comments of "who's this character I don't remember what they were saying" and that's just the worst, even if it's not our fault.

Yup. I went from Pixel-art to a cartoon style. People seem to like the style change, and I feel like it fits my vision better, so I think it was a good idea.

To add to the conversation, my releases are 1 page twice every month. I'm trying to work up a decent buffer to move it to a weekly schedule. But as of now, bi-monthly is all I can manage.

@AdamBraveOfficial Yeah, that's fair. I am unfamiliar with this cuz my comic is made of one-strip stories, but it makes sense.

@Iris-Grimoire 100 pages away? Damn. Can you have some event mid-way to prepare the big climax?

I believe we all make do with real life constraints and stuff, so we can't really blame ourselves for the delay. That sort of thing happens. I guess as long as you let the audience know and update sometimes to show you're alive, it's good enough.
Being a university student with little time, I know that sort of stuff cannot always be controlled >.>

Nope, there are cool events, but that's all chapter 1 and 2's buildup, give or take. The moments in those can be broken up into tiny pages just fine since they're still "slow" in comparison. It's one of those mistakes while planning a webcomic from what was previously a novel, but live and learn...

@travelercomic yeah me too. I have a tough time figuring out what kind of aspects of my comic to promote.

@Birbmagadon it was pretty risky. Especially since Pixel-Art comics are rare, much less action oriented ones that aren't based off of video games. Mine had zero references to any games.
I still have a small nagging doubt that the change might harm my chances at keeping future readers. But right now I don't have the time to redraw it, so I'm just going forward.

It's more doing the promotion itself? I'm just not very good at it in general lol If I can get one on one talking to someone about my comic they tend to get pretty interested, but just general marketing on places like twitter or instagram just confuses and frustrates me.

@dragonsparking Why picking pixel-art to begin with, then? Any specific reason? You got me curious And how well did your readers welcome it, when it happened?

@travelercomic I do okay on Instagram, I just post a picture about my comic about once a week. (Also I post my comic pages there too.) Facebook is really hit or miss, I usually just post my chapter releases day of. Recently got Twitter, but I have no idea where to start and am totally lost XD

@Birbmagadon I did it because I thought it would be easy, and there weren't many comics like it, so I thought I'd stand out, so for lazy reasons I suppose, thought it would be a quick route to success.

But...I quickly discovered pixel art, is not easy. It's very demanding on tiny details.

Oh I definitely am. It looks and feels so much better. But I'm not done with Pixel-Art entirely. I plan on eventually making a retro style game based on my comic. And, I do like making pictures in that style, just not my comic xD

Editing!!! I love editing usually, but because I actively refuse to edit once somethings published I really take my time with my pieces, it takes so long because I keep a deadline!!
