Nice thread! Here's mine:
@Mari, this isn't the kind of comic I usually read, since I usually don't like everyday settings unless it's in a gag-a-day format, but that's a personal preference. There's a whole lot of personality and humor, and Nem does strike me as a very believable dramatic teen, especially regarding his inner monologue. At the start of the comic you warn about the early pages being cringy, but I really don't think they are. The art gets better later on, but I think the early pages work fine for the kind of tone you're setting. Someone pointed out that the text is sometimes a bit too small in the early pages, and I agree, though that's not a problem with the newer pages. (And I definitely think handwritten text is a major plus in any comic.) For me, the grayscale makes it a little difficult to quickly figure out what's going on, since it's quite visually dense, with a lot of things going on in a panel and no space between panels. Maybe you could try emphasizing important elements in a panel (such as characters) with thicker outlines? Overall, great dialogue and characters, just not really my kind of comic.
@TheFalseVyper, the opening is striking, and the art is solid. That's a remarkably evil witch for sure. Personally, I'm not that into high fantasy when it comes to comics, and I also prefer comics that are on the lighthearted side of things. For the kind of dark fantasy you're going for, though, you seem to be doing really well! You clearly have a sincere approach to the themes you're dealing with, and it's a compelling story. Maybe the intro was a bit too dark? It does set up the plot and the villain, so it's not gratuitous, but it's fairly long and brutal, so some readers might be put off by it. Personally, I prefer to be eased into a setting before it gets grim, but that might be just me.
@DaniBoy, your comic is probably one of the most visually unique there are on Tapas. The way you work with colour pencils really is gorgeous, and makes things look alive and three-dimensional in a sculptural kind of way. The prologue is engaging, but given its bleak tone, it's probably good that it only goes on for three pages. The characters and the dialogue are psychologically realistic, and the story does suck you in. It's quite serious, more of a graphic novel than a traditional "comic". Personally, I prefer more lighthearted stories when it comes to comics, so I don't read many graphic novels. That's just a personal preference, though; your work is very impressive.
