Ghost Cat Anzu. Can't compete with most other high ranked animation movies but still a decent heartwarming movie.

Anzu himself is really adorkable, and so is the 2nd protagonist girl being quite likeable.
I especially like the Anzu's daily solo outings & meting the ghost frog scenes.

Rewatched The Hitman's Bodyguard and its sequel last night; was watching football but something about not wanting to hear/see Tom Brady on the Fox TV game so I bailed...watched TRON Ares on Saturday night- it was "meh" to okay; the story was kinda weak sauce and they definitely would've gotten better views if they didnt cast Leto in the starring role. Evan Peters did his thing [again] in playing the asshole bad guy.

Heard of the latter, but I don’t particularly care for it any more than I cared for … that other film.

I, for my part, am glad the protagonists don’t exist in real life, because I would probably be resentful of them. I find them to be spoiled brats.

You can’t expect to have heard of every single piece of media, my good sir. I for my part had never heard of E.T.A. Hoffmann until about ten years ago, and I hadn’t heard of Michael Ende until I was sixteen, when I read his Neverending Story.

That´s true, but that movie came out when I was a kid + Frank Oz & Jim Henson.
Everything about it calls my name

I just read it was really popular in the US but not massively in Germany

The Substance (2024). NFSW Body Horror with heavy nudity scenes.

Totally reminds me of The Shining, some artsy vibe like Under the Skin, Death Becomes Me & Dumplings for story similarity, and Requiem for a Dream with the fast extreme closeups, the spinal fluid extractions & sound design. Very good but not great, Demi Moore's acting is stellar here. I like how effective the movie gives me the creeps on 1st act & the sadness & sympathy to Demi's character on 2nd act. Later 3rd act the movie tries a tone shift to bloody campy monster movie near the ending, feels awkward (not as elegant like movie 'Parasite'). Editing needs to be tighter--feels dragged on. A-

Finally watched 'Stand By Me' as I looked forward to.

Good directing, genuine acting from the main teen cast (and also the antagonists). I like the character Gordie the most, got range. It's a simple coming-of-age adventure story tho there's no big moments in the story other than what's already happened (no one gets really hurt besides that swamp scene). I do like the introspective part of talking heart to heart but it didn't get to me as I hoped. The ending part is especially well-done with the monologues-- props to that!
B+ (I watched it on my phone on road so it might affected my viewing experience)
I think I like 'My Girl' better overall, that is one of my favorites.

Did a rewatch on 80s movies The Last Starfighter & Krull this week...kinda had a bit of nostalgia to see both; just ticked off coz I want to watch The Beastmaster but it's REALLY HARD to find it on Blu-ray/DVD/streaming.

My husband and I got Disney+ last year to catch up on all the Star Wars series that have been done. We've gone through "Andor", "Obi-Wan Kenobi", and now "The Mandalorian". We went to Disneyland a few years ago so we could visit the "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" area. I am still trying to get over the fact that Princess Leia is a Disney Princess now. Had to buy the mouse ears. Anyway, it's been great diving into the world of Star Wars the last few months. The mouse ears are a great inspiration and I keep them in my crafting/writing room.

Cory Feldman and Will Wheaton are going around doing a tribute tour for its anniversary this year. They show the movie and then they are there for a Q & A after. They've only listed a few dates in the States where they're going.
