I work part time and go to college part time for Computer Engineering. I balance it the way I do everything. I have times set for school work, time set for work work (which I refuse to take home with me), and a few nights set for drawing. I go to the local drink and draw, which now happens twice a week so that definitely helps me have time each week for a mixture of comics work and socializing. Whenever I can have extra thou (like a weekend I have to myself, or nights when I am visiting my parents, or me time at a cafe) ill work on my comics. Sometimes Ill use drawing as a rewards while studying. Like, finish 20 pages of reading, get to work for like 30min to 1hr on comic. Finish program early, get some comic time and a beer.
This all seems to go out the window when I get terribly depressed/anxious thou, and I end up just laying on the floor listening to youtube videos. But its all about managing time. And making sure to schedule ME days of nothing, because if I dont, I know I do go crazy. Sometimes I have to shed my preconceived notions of what is success and what is happiness, and just let myself be relaxed and happy for a bit. Then back to real life haha.
