What should I do before publishing a comic in here?

Hi there, I'm sushi... I'm planning to create a Webcomic and publish it here. Well, in fact, the comic is still in progress)

I've never published my comic everywhere before and I don't know much about publishing a webcomic.

I love drawing and writing. That's why I will turn my web novel (I post it on another platform) into a webcomic.

So please let me know about your advice. Thank you...

Before you start posting, I highly suggest building a buffer of pages. If you have a weekly or monthly update schedule, it can be very stressful trying to finish each new page before the next update, and it doesn't give you any flexibility if you get sick or anything.

So my biggest piece of advice is to build up a buffer! I finished my entire 40-page first chapter before I started posting anything online, so I had plenty of time to make new pages. Being weeks or months ahead on updates means for a stress-free production schedule!

Aside from that... Just do it! The only way to get better at drawing comics is to draw comics! So if you're at all worried that you don't know what you're doing, don't worry about that at all! Just make sure your lettering is legible and you'll be fine. Good luck!!

I second @ninjashira on the 'build a buffer' recommendation. I drew 30 pages before I started posting, and I've maintained that. I could have a major crisis (break my hand, have to move, lose a loved one, etc), be unable to draw until February, and still not miss an update. That kind of backup plan is very, very reassuring, and it gives you time to pivot in the story if you need to.

Hi, I'm a new creator at Tapas and find the topics on the forum very helpful just like this one. Your artwork is awesome! There shouldn't be any force on earth that will prevent you from publishing your comics.

However, I don't know if this is applicable for all creators, but in my case, I have my webcomic copyrighted first just to make sure that I have the legal rights to own my works and won't have to worry about someone stealing it. But that's just me, I don't know if it works for all creators.
