I was on a hiatus for about 6 months due to some life events, but now I am back with a lot of prepared content.
Is there something I should do to get readers back into following the work since the traction has died down?
The work (nsfw, horror):
You could always make a little announcement or perhaps some kind of fun short catch up that reminds readers of where the story is currently at. But if you want to just jump back in and start posting, I don't think you should hold back. Most likely everyone will be delighted you've returned, and happy to jump back into the story.
Great suggestion. Would you have an idea of what would make the best announcement format? Ie. as a page, as a page description, etc.?
I prepare buffers beforehand
It really comes down to your personal style? I like to take my breaks between chapters, so I have a "Chapter X" page I modify and post, the week before I resume posting content, and then say whatever I want in the description. Some creators are really good at making creative pages with little chibis of themselves or their characters to announce/explain things. You could create a pin up (if appropriate) of one of your characters as a treat, and then write in the description underneath to announce your return.
Yes, I'm actually experiencing the same problem. There is a hiatus with my comic's main universe right now. The next season of my series doesn't come out until the fall of this year. So hearing advice on what to do after a comic returns is great to know
wow this is a though one. I remember when I had to take a break due to my RSI and I posted a image of myself holding my wrist because the pain was ridiculous. I remember how much that hurt me and I think I lost readers during that time lol. and when I came back and started posting it wasn't the same. its a risk but I know life happens and you just need a break. just like everyone else said just explain yourself, if you can do it I cute chibi form of yourself that would be great. give a time you will come back. the mistake artists make is not give a time they will be back and readers leave thinking you will beer come back. and if you do set a time that you will continue make sure you do comply. and if you need more time just say so. its all about communication. just don't go ghost because it will cost you. long story short, I was able to get on track because I did exactly the advice I'm giving you now. good luck!
idk start posting again, I guess.
