Well, admittedly, my idea of creating a fantasy epic with snowmen as protagonists WAS crazy. I’ve come up with tonnes of crazy ideas over the years, most of which haven’t been fully realised, and many of them were met with the same thing from my teachers: scoffing and disapproval. I had this idea for a novel about an underground commune under Birmingham, England populated by anthropomorphic animals. I created a novel set in an alternative history where dogs run the government. Just recently, I came up with a story about a veteran of the Crimean War encountering a warrior woman who uses a magic power up system when she sings. Very weird and pulpy, especially these days.
