What would it take for you to tag a chapter as mature content?

When it comes to my own work - if there is a slap or two, as well as some lighter English curse words I would not label it as mature. However if there is a more explit scene of violence (all of its types) or I have used heavier words I would.
When it comes to other creators works I can't really tell. We all have different triggers and sences. I have seen/read scenes that aqre tagged as "mature"but I didn't feel like such or triggereing. I feel that it deppends on your audience on if you should or should not put it.

I wouldn't label it as Mature unless it was straight up R-rated or unless someone flagged me because like...I don't want to be taken off the app.

My work has never gotten to that point but eventually it might...

But if there's something triggering then I would say so at the beginning of the chapter or episode rather than mark Mature. Like if there was blood or domestic violence, etc.

I guess it's very much depend. I won't be putting the tag for swears words, but I might do it if slurs were included, but depend on the situation I might not do it either. Then there's the matter of sensitive content like self harm, suicide, abuse and child's death. I will be putting the tag on most but if it's very suggestive and not particularly out in the open, I might not. I have to warn my reader on the few first page of my stuff just so they're aware of these things tho. Things were put into consideration, but I most specifically will always put self harm and suicide on the tag.
Edit. Pretty much, do it with respect.

And yeah, excessive blood, gore, explicit nudity and sex is on the mature tag because that's the rule lol

Nudity and gore for me. I wouldn't tag things like cursing or a tiny bit of blood. Not like anyone would care on the internet of course lol

If the episode has like, explicit nudity, sexual content, and gore. I'm pretty lenient with what is considered mature or not. If there's anything triggering (talks/depictions of suicide, abuse, etc., dysphoria, homophobia...) I'd usually add a warning before the episode starts.

Honestly, my criteria for tagging a chapter as mature is one of the main reasons why I'll probably never do so - not only because I post on Webtoons as well - where you can't tag individual episodes as mature and can only tag the entire work as so, and where the rules on the mature rating is stricter compared to tapas - my comics never go to that point, and it's something I'm not comfortable drawing or writing.

I mostly use it if I think the content might be something someone is going to get in shit for looking at when they are at school or work.

This applies more to nudity and suggestive themes that language though, I generally don't bother with language. It's the visuals that usually get people in trouble, not to much the dialog.

For my story, I did put the 18+ and a disclaimer because the comic will have scenes of blood violence and minor gory scenes. There's plenty of profanity because the nature of the world that my character inhibite.

Will there be nude? There may come as minor perhaps, bathing or a showering scene but nothing to crude.

@Missapogee this is a great question, for me i add the mature filter in case someone takes a certain idea triggering like a dead body, excessive amount of blood, suggestive themes etc. I try to be mindful to others, but they have to understand to read that their discretion.
