I think inspiration can come from a plethora of places. From video games to movies to even pieces of art.
So I wanted to see if you guys have any work of fiction you would recommend and why you recommend it. It could be a book, anime, manga, webtoon, poem, or anything you feel people should read if they want inspiration. But here's the twist. Mention something you wouldn't recommend as well.
Here's mine:
Recommend: Gantz (Manga)
Reason: Let me tell you right of the bat that this manga is explicit in every way; from the violence to the sex. So you are warned. But having said that, this manga is the best example of how you can create a protagonist you just don't like. Truly. The MC is selfish, lazy, apathetic, and let's his hormones get over him. But at the same time, he is smart, capable, and very resourceful. It's really fun to see how he goes from being someone you loathe to someone you begin to root for. An excellent example of character development.
Not Recommended: Game of Thrones
Reason: It's great worldbuilding, but it's seriously overrated. It just came at the right time when television hadn't seen a truly adult fantasy series in a long while. It's like 18+ Lord of The Rings.
