I feel like there's a fusion in writing and art with comics that make it pretty inseparable. They go hand in hand. But I will say that art is so much more subjective than writing, that there's more forgiveness for it. Art can get pretty squirrely and still make a lot of sense. Writing though--yikes. When you're trying to write a clear and entertaining story, you can't be quite as rough on the edges, you got to get some polish in there or people will get confused.
Like for me the art may be the initial draw, but once I'm reading, if the characters don't really feel like real people, I am out.
