Hmmm... how do I put this...
I think the defining feature of my work is absurdity that comes from things that are outrageously fantastical and things that are totally banal or mundane being put together, and characters will often treat the fantastical as mundane and the mundane as fantastical.
Characters will be deadpan about swarms of luminous ghosts in one scene, and intensely passionate about eating a pie in another. They'll write a tweet complaining about the monster on their road, or start bickering in the middle of a fight against a building-sized demon that wants to tear a hole in reality.
My comics are bold, lurid and with these big, overblown action scenes. Oversized anime swords, magical explosions, massive ridiculous looking monsters... but then it's combined with a very Northern English temperament of understatement, dry humour and not taking anything too seriously, which kind of tempers the melodrama shounen often leans into and leads to quite a distinctive tone.
Visually, my work is all about clarity. I use pretty simple panelling for the most part, because I'd rather somebody get lost in the story than get distracted by me trying to show off how awesome and clever I am or whatever. My pages aren't sexy, because I only focus on making a panel beautiful if the intended message is "everyone is in awe of the beauty of this thing/character", but they're very easy to read. This would probably make my work pretty boring to read if I made a Slice of Life or Romance, but works pretty well when I'm drawing these fantastical scenes and big action. Again... the mundane meets the fantastical!
