There are a few things terrible about my country, but most of it boils down to two big problems: Democrats and Republicans. Our politicians put partisan loyalty ahead of loyalty to their constituents, an easy trap to fall into, since most don't actually pay attention to what those they're supposed to represent want unless they're at risk of getting voted out.
They are also allowed to vote for their own pay raises. Nobody else gets to do that. We have to ask our bosses. Apparently our civil servants have forgotten who their bosses are and who's sacrificing chunks of their paychecks to give them their (excessive) pensions.
They are also responsible for polarizing our country along racial, class, and demographic lines, and the increasing disregard for reason, moderation, listening, and working together.
