What's the origin story of your comic/novel's title?

The title of my novel is Fox Fire which is the nickname for the northern lights (aurora) in Finland. This will come into play later into the book, but the aurora is the main set for my characters (Animal Hell is the southern lights and Heaven is the northern lights). I have so many references and plans for my book and it will all tie together in the ending.

I named my story Fair, no Fair, because I kinda want to ask you as a reader to be critical about the actions of all the characters, mainly the protagonist Simon and his love interest Joey. Every Character has a different view on if actions by others in the story were justified or not.

Was Joey justified in disliking Simon or not? From Simon's perspective certainly not, but once you get more context your perspective on the matter may start to differ or at least you may get a better understanding of why Joey did this. I specifically wrote the story from Simon's perspective so we only get his view and it's only in dialogue and Simon's interpretations of other's emotions that you get an idea of other people's perspective. You get a better understanding of others as Simon retells what he knows about them and may be challenged in those views as Simon is. (At least, I hope that comes across.)

For me, Devil's Triangle is another name for the Bermuda Triangle which is a region in the ocean where ships disappear. It can be interpreted in a few ways - either as the dark abyss of the Internet, or the mysteries revolving around the murders that happen in the novel. It also refers to the love triangles that are present among the different characters!

Shackles is symbolic of the limitations and expectations that are expected of the Empress Dowager. She's bound to her duty and to her people, while sacrificing her own desires.

The title of "Red Shift" comes from the physics light phenomenon that helps us see where celestial objects are moving. Since my story is a dark sci-fi, the title fits both literally and metaphorically. It's also named after one of my favorite songs, Ayria's ebm banger "Red Shift.

The main character of 'On the Downside' has a very moody and pessimistic outlook on life as opposed to the others around her and part of the story is her slowly working on becoming more optimistic over time with the help of her friends and therapist.

For me, I'm on both ends of the spectrum:

"Haha look at me writing silly BL because it's fun and I wanna include as much tropes as possible, let's go!"

"Okay I want to improve my writing because I want to create three dimensional characters and nice settings and interesting conflicts and themes and such."

I usual go for clever or fun names, like She Kills Elephants and Men, but recently, for the Internet I switched to simpler names that describe the book, because they seem to sell the book better.

Hence, Trapped by the Mafia for my mafia gothic romance dark comedy story.

For my next one, the working title is Sebastian, the Leper Angel

The original title for mine was going to be Arcana, simply because the story revolves heavily around a mysterious power called "Arcana." After a lot of consideration, I decided that it was too popular of a name so I switched to Lycoris Rising. There are a few reasons why I stuck with this name

1. The primary antagonistic entity is an organization called Lycoris that is quickly rising into power.
2. The Lycoris Radiata flower (or spider lily) is important symbolically.
3. Lots of other spoiler-y reasons that I won't mention.

Now Morpho Mons kinda explains in of itself where the origin of its name stands.

When I was 12, I made a lot of fan characters.
This also included fan characters for Pokemon and Digimon.

And it got me to think that.
Now, I have those characters, but what if I made my /own/ Monster series, where I have 100% creative control and I could make the rules?

And so I made Morpho Mons.
It was just a silly little story with not a lot to it. Dropped it very fast.
But then, 10 years later, I felt the need to have a story where I could live my passion to draw monsters and animals. And then I remembered I had Morpho Mons back then.
So I revived it, gave it an updated look and feel and incorporated my adult & LGBTQ+ views and struggles.

Basically I now want it to be like a nostalgic monster series, but with mature and LGBTQ+ topics.

Oh man, I am bad at titles. Hannah, Not the Wolf was actually my placeholder title, and then when I tried to come up with something better... I filled a notebook page with possibilities, actually, and they were all sincerely awful. (They really were. My first beta reader -- a writer friend I've known for more than half my life -- laughed when she saw them.) So I fell back on my placeholder. I'm reasonably happy with it? but I hope I can come up with something a bit... hmm, cooler?... for whatever I finish next.
