What's your fav crypid/legend

As the title goes,what is your fav crypid or legend,and why?

There's a lot to choose from.
I've always had a soft spot for Mothman.
I mean Mothman is a stand out that it doesn't seem to mean any direct harm in most stories and actually warns you of coming danger. Not to mention that the legend of Mothman saved an entire towns economy.

If you count Wendigos then those are a big favorite as well due to the year and years of lore and stories and movies and video games.

Chupacabra has always been a funny little dude for obvious reasons.

Then there's the Fearsome Critters who are all fun in their own way.

Hard choice.

Hmm. Can we bring in old folklore creatures?
Because in that case: alps. They're basically sleep paralysis demons that are vampiric in nature, though their behavior is also likened to incubuses.

And if that doesn't count, probably the Ogopogo. It was the first crypid I was introduced to on account my grandmother used to live near the lake its said to have inhabited.

My favorite sleep paralysis related cryptid is Dab Tsog ("Da Cho"), a Laotian cryptid that followed Hmong (an ethnic group from Laos) expats in the US, that caused a number of deaths from SUNDS (Sudden UNexplained Death Syndrome) or SANDS during the Vietnam War era:

Jackalopes are real, just like unicorns! They're just not as cool as the stories make them out to be.

Was there a specific legend that inspired those mouth breather monsters that are the default critters in your comic?

Sort of. There's a lot of different places I pull from. Not just crytpids, but monsters from video games and horror movies. But their final design did end up being a weird ass combo of the Dover Demon and an Isz from The Maxx:
