What's your favorite cliché?

I love the heart of gold kinda cliche. But in the way where the character never shows it on the outside. People think they're just rude or a-holes, but deep in they care a lot. It's why I love a series like Gintama. I do have characters that follow this cliche.

The bad guy who has a soft spot for another character who is usually on the good side :3

Jock and nerd stereotypes- and two of those characters being best friends. Gets me every time.

I think I'm actually guilty of using these clichés a bit in my current comic...
I've got a blonde character who is very excitable and acts goofy, and the main love interest is the most sassy being ever... and is 5 feet 3 inches tall.
It's so fun to write so I completely understand hahah

My favorite is the "berserker mode cliché". It's where when triggered a character (usually the MC) gains insane power but loses their senses, becoming an uncontrollable killing machine (think Ichigo's hollow form or more classically the Hulk). Bonus points if they hurt someone they care about during their rage (adds a nice emotional sequence once they chill out).

What about the "Dream sequence around the cherry blossoms" cliché? "I have no idea what your name is, but for some reason now I love you and need to meet you in my life"

Minus the cherry blossoms, it happened to me once. Something just clicked, you know? Too bad it was entirely one-sided.

This isn't even an exaggeration; I just finished drawing a comic with like 6 alternating instances of "I'LL DEFEND U WITH MY LIFE" because apparently my tastes in romance are really simple

My favorite cliche is what I call "the Vigil moment" named after the legendary scene from the original mass effect game. It is that moment in which some mayor characters, usually protagonist and antagonist, meet in an abstract or misterious place and have an epic discussion which reveals key elements of the plot. It can be awesome if it is written properly.

I am not sure which is my favourite cliche but nowadays I am reading Something About Us which is basically a huge bag of cliches and I don't hate it per se.

As for cliche in my whole writing, my poetry comic has a wide array of cliches, latest being the desire to fly and taste freedom...it made me cringe...and I LOVE IT. But I do try my best to avoid cliches like a plague in my novel.

I am a TOTAL sucker for robots (and aliens, lesser so) developing sentience and discovering/exploring their humanity. Tangentially related: stoic types showing glimmers of emotion and having to process strong feelings for the first time.

e.g. Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Transformers franchise.

Interestingly, I don't have a lot of interest in writing those kinds of stories right now, but I sure as heck love consuming them.

Crossdressing. Hands down my favorite cliche, whether it's a boy dressing up as a girl or a girl dressing up as a boy, especially if they outshine their friend who's is actually X gender.
