What's your latest favorite manga?

Tbh, I started this topic because I wanna talk about my recently discovered love for Jujutsu Kaisen lol. The most basic plot of this manga is that there's this big 'war' between cursed spirits a.k.a. demons vs shamans. I guess you can say that it's similar to Demon Slayer but in my opinion, it's more serious and mature? The characters are complex and have interesting motivation. The 'magic system' is also pretty interesting, since the shamans use curse power to fight the cursed spirits.

Psst, I love gojo btw. He's cool. I guess you can call him the levi of this manga XD since he's way too OP.

Anyway, what's your latest favorite manga?

Well there's a lot but some of them have been kind of slow in updating:

Kingdom, Black Butler, Berserk, Dead Tube,Goblin Slayer, and Record of Ragnarok and basically everything Junji Ito made.

I don't read a lot of manga. Seriously, my anime to manga ratio is.. ugh 10 to 1?? The Demon Slsyer anime finished recently, it was my favorite battle shounen of the year, and uhhh.. I love Ufotable, but the wait was killing me. I read from chspter 53 up until 173 in one day, but since I was getting real exhausted, I finished the remaining 4 first thing next morning. It's honestly one of my favorite mangas at the moment even if it is kinda basic

These manga have the misfortune of updating veeeeeery slowly. But they more than ever make up for it in terms of quality in art and story.
Made in abyss- a fantasy of 2 kids entering a truly alien fantasy world of the abyss. Something I have not seen much of as most fantasies tend to stick with traditional orcs, goblins, ect.

Ancient Magus Bride- Beautiful art work, and a very slow calm story about some old school mythology and an interesting relationship between the two main leads. Thou I love this manga to death, the slow updates aggravates my patience.

Land of the lustrous- not a a fan of the art, but a very engaging story, about a bunch human-gems beings who fight off moon people, that gradually develops and expands waaaaay beyond said premise. I love/hate the gradual development of the main lead, its very fascinating while at the same time extremely tragic.

I've been in love with Spy x family tbh!! It's a really cute family action series about a fake family made up of a spy, an assassin, and a telepathic hiding their true selves from each other.

Joining this thread to put Ao no Flag on blast because more people need to read it it is sooo good.

If you like wandering son or more recently star's align anime this manga gives off similar vibes in exploring sexuality, what it means to be a girl or boy, or to like someone. It is so pure and the kids are grappling with real issues we thought about in high school. And I'm honestly rooting for everyone in the main cast, the conflicts tears my heart out.

And recently the author released a nearly wordless chapter from a character's point of view that was sublime. It really inspired me to try and make something like that one day.

Here's a new manga that got some attention because my latest favorite manga is Spy x Family. It's a charming and inventive manga about a spy who has his own "family" as part of the mission with an assassin as his wife and a cute esper girl as his own daughter. I'm quite picky on manga and I like the ones that give some nice novelty. So there's 2 I really enjoyed lately.

Kujira no Kora wa Sajou ni Utau (Children of the whales).

Dramatic story of some peaceful people living on a weird vessel called the Mud Whale on a huge ocean made of sand. On that vessel, some people are granted with some psychic/magic powers (the marked ones) and some others are just regular humans. Curiously, the marked ones don't have a very long lifespan. And curiously, the whole group of people on the vessel is attacked by some huge and powerful empire.
Pretty art, good mature story, endearing characters, interesting lore. There's an anime version as well, it's very good too.

Kusuriya no hitorigoto

Plots and investigation in ancient China-like. For once, the main character is really interesting and smart (even if she has some weird hobbies). The art is pretty, the plots and story is very well handed (I got really surprised at how good it is), interesting side characters, and I can't wait to get updates because I want to know what is going to happen with all these nice girls from the royal harem! >_<

I spent a few years without reading many mangas but some months ago I started reading more again, and I'm glad I did because I'm really enjoying these!

Witch Hat Atelier:

It's about a little girl who wants to become a witch, the art is incredible, the characters are super wholesome and the whole method of learning how to use magic is very similar to learning to draw, since it involves drawing magic circles... as an artist I think it's very interesting to see the parallels! (I think I already talked about this manga and this artist in other two topics lol)

Beastars:

The anime started airing a few weeks ago, it's... kinda like Zootopia but way more mature lol. It starts as a high school drama/murder mystery but goes way beyond that, deals with a lot of social and personal issues.

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou:

This one is an older manga about an android who works alone at a coffee... it's super chill and slow paced, but it's strange because it's an post apocaliptic story, the sea levels are super high, there are deserted towns and all that stuff, but the people are living calmly and it's really relaxing to read!

(I'm also reading Girl from the Other Side and Land of the Lustrous, but other people already mentioned those. I agree that they're great tho!!)

Ah my latest is probably the one about a Gay man who loves cute things and wants to be a princess but feels he can't because he's too "manly" but his boyfriend is just very supportive like hell ye you're a princess and honestly it's all I need in life.

i actually recently picked up a french manga called Radiant (it's got an anime on crunchyroll too apparently) and binged it all in a few days. but it's french so no serialization and the releases are volume by volume so i have to wait until december for new updates it's about a world were like these demons are falling down from the sky and people who have been touched by them and survived instead of dying instantly use magic to fight them because they can, but they get like a weird affliction to show for it. the main character can use magic without tools so he's speshul

meanwhile im suffering as a fan of seven deadly sins because nakaba faked us out with a 4 part "epilogue" and then continued the story what the fuck they were so close to being happy

Thought it said least favorite manga for a second to be honest (to that, I'd probably say Dragonar Academy, but I'm only one volume in). As for my latest favorite manga, I've been reading a lot of Komi-San is Bad At Communication lately (Najimi's still my favorite with that). It's cute, wholesome, and funny, so a very good combo for me.
