Step 1: Panic. I've just finished a chapter and I need to come up with the next ones script, and it needs to be epic and awesome and well paced. Spend about 1-2 hours mentally planning and playing through scenarios, that will roughly follow along with the master script (the bones for the entire story arc & overall story)
Step 2: Create a written script. Usually 2-3 pages long, it takes about a day. Can paradoxically be the most fun, or the most horribly agonizing part of the process.
Step 3: Anxiously show the written script to my 2 trusted writing/comic-enthusiast friends, and let them tear it apart. Pointing out anything cheesy, lame, boring, repetitive, inconsistent - and proceeding to remove said things. Debate and add suggested improvements... That's how it's supposed to go, anyways. Could take anywhere between 1-3 days, and usually gets pretty heated... Screaming, yelling, crying, laughing, throwing scripts across rooms, literally setting scripts/concepts on fire. Sometimes making large-scale edits to the master script, which is EXTRA dramatic... ect... Usually there's lots of drama and excitement, and the 3 of us get yelled at for the noise as people think we're actually fighting... But the finished product is 5-10 times more awesome, and I help them with their stories and scripts in return.
Step 4: Things calm down. The standard sketching, inking, toning, word balloons, ect. This can take about a month for the full chapter, sometimes more depending on the amount of details, pages, and complexity. Or, if I get overloaded with work... Or sick with the plague... Or if I have to take care of someone who's sick with the plague... Yeah, it's variable how long this one takes.
Step 5: Submit to final editing. Same 2 friends provide me with a fresh pairs of eyes, to notice if there's any anatomy errors, weird visual illusions, bad perspective, or inconsistencies... or if anything could be improved upon. Less dramatic than the first edit... (usually). It can take anywhere from an hour to a week, depending on how many visual edits I have to make.
And HUZZAH, a full chapter of Entertain Me is released. (though I'm releasing more in 'chunks', now)
