When do you think your comic gets good?

I would say Chapter 4 -- that's the point when I felt the best about my writing, like I'd really brought the whole chapter together and kept everything moving cohesively instead of just managing to string together scenes that worked.

Art-wise I feel like every new chapter is the best chapter I've done yet. If I look at it as "when does it get good" instead of "what's the point where you hit your best work," ..... I think it would still be ever-changing. Like, right now I"d say Chapter 4 again, since the choices there feel a lot more intentional and adventurous than previous chapters, but I'm sure as I get better I'm going eventually look back at Chapter 4 like "dang I had no idea what I was doing back then."

I think you are talking more about the quality of the writing so I will change your question.

When do I think the quality of my ‘story making’ got good.

I have been making stories since I was 9. But I only started writing at 15.
But I think my storymaking didn’t get good until I was 14. And I’ll tell you why.
I had a wonderful story that I had thought over and thought over every for 5 years. It was my first story. It was big and beautiful and original! But guess what. IT WAS SHIT!! Ya wanna know why? It didn’t make any goddamn sense! The characters were aaawwwweeesssooommmee but the plot of the story didn’t make any sense! I’m not even sure if there was a plot by the end of it:/ Also there was this weird power system that was barely involved in the actual story. AND IT WAS JUST A HUGE MESS!! But luckily! I realized that my story would never be able to come out of my head, onto paper, and then be translated by another human mind, into the story again. It was just an impossible mess.

So I had to do one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I had to erase it from my mind. I had to abandon that story that I had loved and worked on for 5 years. It took awhile but I did it.
And so when I was 14, after I had freed myself from the first story. I was able to understand what made a good story. And also I started learning a lot about how to tell a story. I had learned a lot of creative skills from that mess of a first story. So once I had learned to tame my passions, I feel I finally became a good story marker.

Everyone is different, but this is my story. But honestly. I feel it’s mostly just talent when it comes to writing bruh:/ Either you got it or you don’t. There are ways to refine it; but you gotta start with the meat and potatoes.

Edit: As far as my writing my current comic. https://tapas.io/series/CrimeandCars I think the end of chapter 1(not yet released) is where things start getting more to where I want the comic to be.

There are a number of ways to define quality, but since you're focusing on the writing aspect of it, that's what I'll talk about.

My writing quality started going up after I started reading Story by Robert McKee, https://www.amazon.com/Story-Structure-Substance-Principles-Screenwriting-ebook/dp/B0042FZVOY , he's also got a couple of youtube videos of his seminar from what I can see if you want to check it out.

My firm belief is that your quality goes up when you start to learn and understand how Story works from its very foundation. Knowing academically what principles work in all good stories help you adapt it to yours and helps you mature as a writer.
